Salah Aiming For Sweep, Pogba A Doubt? U23s Lose To Man Utd

Club News:

As Liverpool prepare to face Manchester United on Saturday, top scorer Mohamed Salah is looking forward to facing David De Gea as he looks to increase his goals tally and complete a sweep of the top-six teams.

Salah said: “De Gea is a great goalkeeper and this is the only team I did not score against in the top six this season, so I will try.”

He also added: “I try to look for a goal in any game I play. I thought already about that and I’m very excited to play in that game. This is the only team in the top six I didn’t score against. Only Manchester United!”

During his press conference, Jurgen Klopp urged his players to focus on the game and not the occasion as they face their great rivals.

Klopp said: “We need to be at 100 per cent, if not a few more, to get something there – but of course, that’s the plan.”

“They are physically really strong and if they defend deep it makes our life not easier, that’s how it is, but I don’t expect it to be all the time like this because they don’t do it all the time.”

Liverpool sit two points behind Manchester United and a win would help their aspirations of a top two finish.

Team News:

Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Andy Robertson are all fit as they prepare for the lunchtime clash on Saturday. Wijnaldum has missed the last few games with illness whilst Henderson suffered a dead leg in the Champions League tie against Porto. Robertson is expected to return to the lineup.

Paul Pogba could miss out on the starting lineup for Jose Mourinho’s side as he undergoes a late fitness test. Pogba left training early although it’s unclear as to what injury he suffered.

Youth News:

Liverpool U23s lost too Manchester United in a Friday night clash at Anfield. An early goal from Adam Lewis in the 66th minute gave the reds a lead before two quick fire goals from United ensured they won 2-1.

Liverpool FC Potential January 2026 Transfers

Liverpool have endured a tough time of it in the Premier League and Champions League so far this season, also crashing out of the League Cup. It is, in my opinion, entirely understandable why that might be the case, given the fact that this is a club that has been grieving the loss of a […]
