Can Contract Talks Still Open, LFC To Face Man Utd In Pre Season, U18s Travel To Newcastle

Team News:

Following a long two week international break, the Premier League is back as Liverpool prepare to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday morning.

The reds will be without Emre Can and Joe Gomez due to injuries sustained during the international break. Jurgen Klopp told reporters: “Emre is out for the weekend. He is getting better and better and better, much better. Hopefully he can have a normal session with us on Sunday morning and then should be fine again.”

However, Klopp has confirmed Nathaniel Clyne is in contention to make his first start of the season.

Klopp said: “Clyney is back. He played last week for the U23s. One or two games more would be nice but the situation is like it is. We have Clyney.”

The manager also provided an update on Emre Can’s contract situation. “”We are in talks with him and it’s all good so far, apart from him signing a contract for us, that’s all. No problem with that.”

Jurgen Klopp will also reach a milestone on Saturday as he takes charge of his 100th Premier League game.

Club News:

Liverpool will travel to the United States for pre-season as they participate in the International Champions Cup. The reds will face Manchester United and Manchester City during the tour. The fixture between Manchester City and Liverpool will most likely take place in New Jersey with MetLife stadium as the venue. Liverpool’s match with Manchester United will take place at the Michigan Stadium which holds a capacity of 107,000.

Youth News:

Steven Gerrard’s U18s will face Newcastle on Saturday in the Premier League. The reds have been in good form having won three out of their last five games. They currently sit second in the league with two games in hand against league leaders Manchester United.
