Liverpool Enter Mbappe Race & Target English Duo

Liverpool Make Mbappe Contact

Liverpool have become the latest side to enter the race to sign French youngster, Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old is set to be the hottest property during this summer’s window with a number of teams, including Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal and Manchester United, all keen to secure his signature. Liverpool are perhaps the most surprising team to be mentioned alongside Mbappe’s name, as there are several areas of the squad that need to strengthened instead. Mbappe’s price tag, which is now in excess of £100million, would put a huge dent in the Reds transfer budget, making improvements to other positions difficult to come by.

Arsenal have already seen an £87million bid rejected by AS Monaco, although French media has reported that a £96million bid from a Premier League club has also been turned down. Mbappe was an integral role in helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title, as well as making it to the Champions League semi-finals. He scored 21 goals in both competitions last season and also picked up eight assists.

Mbappe has also recently spoken about his “obsession” with the Champions League and how the competition drives him to succeed. He said, “The Champions League is a dream, a competition that everyone wants to win and that only a few can”. Because Liverpool managed to secure a top 4 finish last season, this quote could mean that a move to Anfield, however unlikely, is still a possibility.

Last Ditch Attempt For The Ox

Long-term Liverpool target, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is close to agreeing a new £100k-per-week contract at Arsenal, but the Merseyside team are prepared to break their transfer record to ensure that it doesn’t go through. According to reports, Jurgen Klopp is prepared to offer as much as £40million for the English winger.

Oxlade-Chamberlain endured a tough start to the season but started to prove himself once again after Arsenal switched to a 3-4-3 formation, and he played as a wing-back. This could be something that turns his eye away from The Emirates as he has recently hinted that he would like to feature more in a central midfield role. This is something that Klopp would be able to offer the Ox and makes this story one that might still be around for a while.

Eyes On Promising Tiger

Liverpool are one of the number of sides who are reportedly interested in England youth international, Josh Tymon. The 18-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions for Hull City last season, who are facing an uphill struggle to keep hold of a number of players following their relegation. The left-back is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the country and is yet to sign a professional contract, making it extremely likely that he will leave in the summer. Liverpool could be set to remove two left-backs from the KCOM as they are also interested in Scottish international, Andrew Robertson.
