Divided Opinion Over Lovren Deal And Costa Likes Liverpool Tweet

Lovren pens new contract

Dejan Lovren has signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2021. The Croatian defender has been at the club since his move from Southampton in the summer of 2014 and has established himself in the first team, racking up 105 appearances across all competitions. After signing his new contract, Lovren told liverpoolfc.com: “I think this is one special day for me and my family.

“I think I am the happiest guy [in the world] today, it’s another dream come true. It was always my dream to stay as long as possible at one club that I love – and that is Liverpool.”

He went on to say that the club are rewarding him for a successful season and that both the club and the fans believe in him. However, there has been a mixed reaction from the fans. Many have been questioning what he has done to earn such a lucrative deal, while others have been questioning his ability to fold his arms, a skill that he has not displayed too proudly in the official photo gallery.

One man who is very happy with the news though is Jürgen Klopp. The Boss said: “Dejan is a big presence for us on the pitch and in the dressing room – this is wonderful news that he has committed to LFC for such a long time.

“He is an outstanding defender and someone who, I believe, still has his best times to come as a player. He has all the assets a top centre-half needs in the modern game.”

Injury updates ahead of Watford clash

English duo, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge were both back in action in training yesterday and both could be available to travel to Watford on Monday. Klopp confirmed the good news in his press conference but refused to get carried away and said that Liverpool would have to “train with the boys to see how they are, what shape they are in and then see what we can do with them.”

Klopp also commented on the fitness of captain, Jordan Henderson and confirmed that he was still not on the pitch training and there are therefore, no new updates on him.

Gerrard announces birth of son

Liverpool legend and U18s manager, Steven Gerrard announced on Instagram this morning that his wife had given birth to a baby boy. The former captain posted a picture with the caption “Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55am. Both are doing great. Our family is complete.” Fans have been sending thousands of messages, and many are speculating how long it will be before we see Lio Gerrard stepping out at Anfield with an armband on. Everyone at Friends of Liverpool would like to send our congratulations to the whole Gerrard family.

Douglas Costa ‘likes’ a move to Liverpool

New transfer target Douglas Costa could be more interested in a move to Merseyside than we first thought. Ove the last couple of days we have reported that the Brazilian is unhappy with life at Bayern Munich due to a lack of game time and is now being linked with the Reds.

Twitter user @OzaniNeto posted a tweet, originally in Portuguese, that translates to “Saido Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Douglas Costa and Roberto Firmino. I can already envision the best attack in Europe in 17/18″. The tweet was eventually ‘liked’ by Costa, sending fans into a frenzy as they were convinced that we have got our man. Although this is a minor detail, it certainly is a positive sign at this early stage
