LIVERPOOL MUST ACT NOW TO GET DOWNING

Friends Of Liverpool

With the news emerging that Arsenal have joined the race to sign Stewart Downing, it is vital that Daniel Comolli proves his worth and FSG sign the winger as soon as possible.

Alex McLeish has publicly stated that the England International was ”not for sale”, but this is viewed as a sop to the Villa Park fans, having already seeing Ashley Young to Man Utd this Summer.
It is known that Aston Villa would be prepared to listen to offers of £20 million for the talented 26 year old.
Liverpool have been pursuing the player in the past few weeks, having first tabled an offer of £12 million then increasing that bid to £15 million, but now that Arsenal have entered the market for Downing with an £18 million bid, it really is time for all concerned at Anfield to stop messing around, offer Randy Learner the £20 million he wants and get the lad signed.
We have already lost out on Conor Wickham and Phil Jones to other clubs so now is the time to act decisively and secure Downing who says he wants to play for Liverpool.
