Liverpool Through To The Semi’s, Can’s Season Is Over, WBA Fixture Rearranged

Afternoon Bulletin

Team News:

Liverpool are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad. The Reds conceded an early goal due to a poor clearance from Van Dijk with Gabriel Jesus giving the Citizens a 1-0 lead. The home side had a disallowed goal in the first half as they approached half time. However, the Reds came out strong in the second half and it was Mohamed Salah who broke the deadlock for Liverpool. Their second came from Roberto Firmino who capitalised on a mistake from the Manchester City defence.

Jurgen Klopp said in his post-match conference:

“We felt so much under pressure. The boys found a solution, best chance in the last minute of the first half, so then easy to see development of game; we were through the whirlwind. I knew we had to change a little bit; be more compact, win 2nd balls, play more and better on the ball. We were then really difficult.”

The win means Liverpool will reach the semi-final stage for the first time in a decade where they are joined by Roma who pulled off a massive upset by beating Barcelona on away goals.
