Club News:
Liverpool have been drawn against AS Roma in the Semi-Final of the Champions League. The reds beat Manchester City in the Quarter-Final stage and will now face the Italian side at home in the first leg. Liverpool will play the first leg on Tuesday 24th April and the return leg in Rome on Wednesday 2nd May.
Jurgen Klopp spoke about the draw:
“Whichever opponent we would have got, I would have said there is a chance because it is football — so there is a chance against Roma. But if anybody think this is the easiest draw then I cannot help this person — they obviously didn’t see both games against Barcelona.”
Team News:
Ahead of the clash against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, Jurgen Klopp provided an injury update. Both Nathaniel Clyne and Ragnar Klavan will miss the game due to injuries picked up in training. Liverpool are also three home games away from staying unbeaten at Anfield this season.
Klopp said:
“I would love it, but three draws would not make me really happy to be 100 per cent honest. I have no problem with records and stuff like that, it’s always good, but it’s really about the next game.”
The manager also gave his insight on facing Bournemouth:
“Again, Bournemouth – how I see it, and I don’t want to be disrespectful, but they are a ‘small’ club there in the south of England, a wonderful region, they do an outstanding job. Eddie Howe and his staff and the boys there, what they are doing there is unbelievable so they have all my respect and I don’t think for a second about the other games after that.”
Youth News:
It’s a merseyside derby for Liverpool U23s as they face Everton on Monday. The reds currently sit third in the Premier League two points behind Leicester and Arsenal. It is a must win game for Liverpool if they have any chance of winning the league.
