KLOPP HAS A FRIEND IN MOURINHO
Jurgen Klopp has received an unlikely ally – in Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho!
Mourinho leapt to the defence of Liverpool boss Klopp after a touchline incident during the game between the two sides on Saturday.
Klopp appeared animated and ran down the touchline reacting to a Dejan Lovren foul on Marouane Fellaini, which prompted referee Craig Pawson to have a word with fourth official Martin Atkinson.
Klopp did, however, escape punishment and had the backing of his opposite number.
Mourinho said: “He was upset with a player and the same happened to me against Crystal Palace and therefore the officials understood that too.
“If you leave the technical area by a couple of metres but to speak to your own player and not to complain about the referee’s decision, they made the right decision.”
LIVERPOOL’S EUROPEAN WINDFALL
Liverpool’s run in the Champions League has guaranteed them £50 million in the bank, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have earned money from TV Revenue as well as prize money for their run to the Quarter Finals so far.
ORIGI’S NIGHTMARE LOAN SPELL
Divock Origi’s loan spell at Wolfsburg isn’t going exactly to plan – with the striker being substituted before half time in their game against Hoffenheim at the weekend.
The Belgian international joined the German side on loan for the season in the summer in hope of restoring some form to give him a fighting chance of returning to the Liverpool first team.
But Origi is on a run of just one goal in his last 16 games, and was taken off in the 41st minute on Saturday in a horror show for Wolfsburg.
MILLAR’S FIRST INTERNATIONAL CALL
Liverpool youngster Liam Millar has received his first senior international call-up, for Canada.
Millar has represented his homeland at under-20s level and has been named in the squad for the seniors for their friendly against New Zealand at the end of March.
It has been a successful year so far for the 18-year-old, who also made the step up from the under-18s side to the under-23s earlier on in the campaign.
