Pre-Porto team news & U23’s lose top spot

Afternoon Bulletin

KLOPP WARNS AGAINST COMPLACENCY

Jurgen Klopp has warned his side against complacency ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg tie against Porto.

Liverpool go into Tuesday’s clash with one foot in the quarter-finals after a 5-0 win in the first leg in Estadio Dragao three weeks ago.

Klopp has warned to expect a backlash from the Portuguese team in the return leg.

Speaking in his press conference on Monday, he said: “I knew immediately after the final whistle in Porto that this game will be a challenge because of all the circumstances.

“We live on this planet and in this city and everyone gives us the feeling this is done, but the result in Porto will lead to a reaction from Porto.”

WIJNALDUM, WOODBURN AND ROBERTSON TO MISS PORTO

Gini Wijnaldum, Andy Robertson and Ben Woodburn are likely to miss Liverpool’s match with Porto.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Scottish left-back Robertson, who has been in fine form recently, sat out training on Monday.

Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum and Welsh youngster Woodburn have been suffering from an illness for over a week now and are unlikely to make a return.

It is likely that Alberto Moreno will make a return to the first team for the first time since January.

U23’S SUFFER HEAVY DEFEAT

Liverpool’s U23s side have finally been dislodged from the top of the Premier League 2 table after a humbling 4-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Leicester’s U23s have leapfrogged Liverpool after the victory at the King Power Stadium.

There was no sign of Danny Ings or Dominic Solanke which suggests they may play some part in the Porto clash on Tuesday night.
