No charge for Brewster incident

UEFA have found that there was no evidence to support a racial complaint made by Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster.

Brewster made a complaint against Spartak Moscow U19’s captain Leonid Mironov after the clash between the two sides in the UEFA Youth League at Prenton Park in December.

After a lengthy investigation UEFA found there to be no evidence to support the statement made by Brewster, although they stated that they believed the complaint to have been made in ‘good faith’.

Mironov admitted that he swore at Brewster, but denied that he used any racial language.

Firmino wants English club in CL draw

Roberto Firmino believes Liverpool will relish facing one of their Premier League rivals in the Champions League should they be drawn against them.

Liverpool sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the competition on Tuesday night with a 5-0 two legged victory over Portuguese side Porto.

The quarter-final draw takes place on 16 March and will definitely include fellow Premiership side Manchester City, and could see two other English representatives in Chelsea and Manchester United.

Brazilian striker Firmino said to The Liverpool Echo: “Yes, we’d like to draw an English club.

“We feel we have played well against the top English clubs. We are not afraid of anyone in the draw.”

Can decision at the end of the season

Emre Can has revealed no decision will be made on his future until the end of the season.

German midfielder Can is out of contract in June and has been the subject of intense speculation since the start of the season, with a move away from Anfield expected.

Italian side Juventus are believed to be Can’s likely destination.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, Can said: “ I haven’t signed for any club, I am just focused on this season.

“We want to finish second in the Premier League. We’re in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and we want to progress.

“My agent has blocked negotiations, I’m thinking only football.”
