Looking back on the Porto victory and looking forward to the meeting with West Ham

Peter talks all things LFC with our regular guest Mike Davies

Hello Mike thanks again for joining us. Firstly what did you make off the performance down at Southampton and who impressed you the most in that game?

Hi Peter, firstly the performance at Southampton was a good solid one with again the whole back five playing very well as a unit with VVD being the conductor. He just settles all of them down and gives the team in whole confidence defensively. Apart from the back five, I felt Firmino again with his work rate creates space for the others.

What are your thoughts on the recent performances by Loris Karius, is he improving or have his clean sheets been due to us having been more solid as a back four?

Karius having a run in the team and having JK’s backing would have given him confidence, this along with VVD coming in conducting the back four has helped him settle and he is slowly becoming the GK we went after in the German league.

Great win in the CL against Porto with some great attacking football, but which of the goals did you enjoy the most?

Moving on to the CL what can we say about the result, I think if most were honest we would have settled for a score draw, as we all know Porto are a very good team at home. I felt all the goals build-ups were great but the goal of the game for me was a close call to Mane’s last and Salah’s, with Salah just nicking it for me due to his great composure and awareness.

Would you be looking to extend and improve Mo Salah’s contract already with reports that Madrid are possibly looking at him?

With all three lads up front I would be looking to extend their contracts ASAP with massive buyout clauses as we all know when Barcelona or RM come knocking it’s hard to say no as a player, but I feel all three are very happy at LFC and would give us at least another season if not longer.

Have you allowed yourself to dream of a sixth European Cup and have we got a team that’s capable of winning it in your opinion?

In our day we can blow any team apart and with VVD settled we seem a lot more solid at the back so yes with the right draw, which as we all know the 1st leg away is important to every team, I would fancy our chances. Maybe a poll would be interesting to have.

Looking forward to West Ham what changes from the last game do you think Klopp will make?

Moving on to WHU this weekend as long as we have no injury worries then I would imagine Can coming back in for AOC as the only change as Milner did more than enough to keep his place. As we know David Moyes doesn’t attack us, never has, so it will have to be a patience game and Milner could be the key to unlock their defence with his passing.

Score prediction against West Ham and why please?

I would be looking at a 3-0 or 4-0 if we get an early goal, if not maybe a nervous 2-0

Many thanks to FOL enjoy the read Mike.
