Another Sturridge injury, new stadium bar and Karius or Mignolet for Porto?

Afternoon Bulletin

Another injury for Daniel Sturridge and club plans for a new stadium bar take the centre focus in today’s Liverpool FC news round-up.

STURRIDGE INJURY HEARTACHE

Daniel Sturridge’s loan spell at West Bromwich Albion isn’t going exactly to plan so far, with the 28-year-old going off injured after just 3 minutes in their clash against Chelsea last night.

Sturridge joined the Baggies during the January transfer window in an attempt to gain more minutes to force his way into the England World Cup squad but left proceedings at Stamford Bridge after feeling a problem with his hamstring.

KLOPP ‘KEEPING’ DECISION CLOSE TO HIS CHEST

Jurgen Klopp is yet to decide who will start in goal against Porto in the last 16 Champions League tie on Wednesday.

Klopp has rotated his goalkeepers on a number of occasions this season, opting with Karius in the Champions League fixtures and initially, Simon Mignolet in the Premier League.

However, this has changed recently with the German boss opting for Karius as his number one.

Speaking ahead of the game at the Estadio Dragao, Klopp said: “To be honest I have not made a final decision but it is not the same situation as it was.

“A good one will play. That’s the plan. But I haven’t made the decision so far.”

CLUB PLANS FOR NEW STADIUM BAR

The club have submitted a planning application to Liverpool City Council to develop the old retail store in the Kop into a new fan bar.

The space is currently vacant and Liverpool are planning to put a new bar, containing large screen TVs and believed to be able to hold 700 fans, into the stadium.

TOUGH WEEK FOR LIVERPOOL LADIES

It’s been a tough week for Liverpool Ladies, who suffered a second consecutive defeat in a row against Manchester City on Sunday.

Scott Rogers’ side suffered a 4-0 defeat to an unbeaten City team, who have now moved to the top of FA WSL 1.
