Loris Karius – 7
Was surprisingly chose ahead of Mignolet and was a spectator for large parts of the match –his handling and distribution were good but could do little to prevent Vardy’s goal.
Joe Gomez – 7
Another mature and dominant performance – one superb effort skimmed Schmeichel’s net and his poise and linkup play was effective.
Joel Matip – 6
Was involved in a few defensive fumbles including the one that led to Vardy’s goal – quite slow and ponderous on the ball but made some important blocks late on.
Dejan Lovren – 6
Apart from a nervy opening few minutes, his performance was positive – especially strong in the air.
Andrew Robertson – 6
Full of energy on the left but too many of his passes and crosses way wayward and more hopeful in nature – got back and covered well in defence.
Emre Can – 6
Produced too many slack touches and rash passes and was more often than not too slow to the second balls – but did play an influential part in Liverpool’s comeback in the second half.
James Milner – 6
Was willing to support the attack and linked-up with Robertson particularly well – but did on occasions leave space in the centre of midfield for Leicester to exploit.
Philippe Coutinho – 6
Was relatively quiet compared to recent performances – was easily dispossessed by Leicester at times but still exhibited some classy touches.
Mohamed Salah – 8
Another two goals for Salah who rescued the points for Liverpool – did miss three other goalscoring chances but these did not faze him.
Sadio Mane – 6
Was back after his rest against Swansea but still failed to really impact the match in any way – did produce an assist for Liverpool’s first but poor passes highlighted his below par performance.
Roberto Firmino – 7
Another energetic, effective, and efficient display against a resolute and combative Leicester defence – continues to play such a vital role in this Liverpool side.
Leicester City
Kasper Schmeichel – 6
Made some key reflexive saves to keep his side in the match – was guilty of time-wasting from the 3rd minute and his kicking was wayward, to say the least.
Daniel Amartey – 6
Produced one superb tackle to deny Coutinho – was often pulled infield to limit the space available for the Liverpool attack.
Wes Morgan – 7
Relished the pressure of playing against the most fearsome of attacks – tackled well and made numerous key blocks.
Harry Maguire – 9
For the first 75 minutes he was the player of the match – read the game wonderfully, brought the ball out from the back with confidence and was a threat on set-pieces – having limited the influence of Salah as well as anyone this season, he was rolled by Egyptian in the final 15 minutes that led to Liverpool’s winner.
Christian Fuchs – 6
His lack of pace showed and often found himself out of position – also was beaten for Salah’s first goal.
Wilfred Ndidi – 7
Another battling performance by the midfielder – always looked to get Leicester up the pitch and his quick turns were effective in finding space.
Vicente Iborra – 7
Was strong and physical in the centre of the Leicester midfield and showed good composure on the ball – often quick to the second balls, he outfought his Liverpool counterparts for much of the match.
Riyad Mahrez – 7
Was unselfish in the opening minutes when he teed up Vardy for Leicester’s earlier goal and did offer Leicester a strong attacking threat on the right – it was also quite striking how willing he was to work back and held Amartey defensively.
Marc Albrighton – 6
Worked tirelessly but it was mainly in defence – wasn’t able to go forward as much as he normally would.
Demarai Gray – 7
Showed a number of good touches and held the ball up well with his back to goal – was arguably the Leicester player who caused Liverpool the most problems.
Jamie Vardy – 7
Scored in the 3rd minute to take his tally to 7 goals in 9 matches against Liverpool – although he was starved of much service, his pace was always a threat and in the back of the minds of the Liverpool defence.
