Jonas Lossl – 5
Made a few good stops but shouldn’t have been beaten at his near post for Firmino’s goal………….
Florent Hadergjonaj – 5
Performed fairly well defensively but did offer Huddersfield an attacking outlet on the left, even if it was minimal.
Terence Kongolo – 5
Tackled and intercepted well but the deep defensive shape meant he was always on the back foot.
Christopher Schindler – 6
Was Huddersfield’s best defender – won a number of aerial duels and produced some important tackles to quell more goalscoring chances.
Mathias Jorgensen – 5
Was guilty of overplaying at the back at times – defended well and didn’t offer the Liverpool attackers much space.
Chris Lowe – 6
Was eager to get forward up the pitch and created a couple of chances – was beaten by Liverpool’s passing in the build-up to Firmino’s goal.
Aaron Mooy – 5
Having had a good season, his performance was particularly disappointing – his lack of ambition and poor passing epitomised his side’s evening.
Jonathan Hogg – 7
Performed well and looked the most dangerous Huddersfield player – had plenty of energy and looked to instigate attacks with his range of passing.
Philip Billing – 4
He deflected Can’s shot beyond Lossl and gave away a penalty late on when he fouled the same player – not a very good performance from the returnee.
Steve Mounie – 5
Had little impact on the game – was void of any service and it might have been more useful for Huddersfield to not have played with any strikers at all.
Laurent Depoitre – 6
Was good in the air but had little service to feet – he did, however, provide Huddersfield’s only shot on target.
Liverpool
Loris Karius – 6
Had very little to do but did claim a couple of crosses with confidence.
Joe Gomez – 6
Had a lot of room to run into on the right but opted to stay back – was beaten in the air for Depoitre’s first-half chance but did make a good late block to keep the clean sheet.
Joel Matip – 7
An improvement on his performance at the weekend – passed well out of the back and came striding into midfield when needed, made a couple of errors as the game wore on but nothing serious.
Dejan Lovren – 7
Showed good aggression winning the ball high up the pitch but defensively was barely tested.
Andrew Robertson – 7
Got into some really good positions in the first-half and was a good outlet during attacks – in terms of defence, it was a comfortable night apart from a poor tackle on Quaner.
Emre Can – 8
Scored the opener with a good strike, albeit lucky with a deflection – was powerful, positive and dictated Liverpool’s play; it is becoming more and more apparent that his performance determines how well Liverpool play.
Jordan Henderson – 8
Led the team well and put in a solid performance on his first start of the year – exhibited plenty of energy and was composed and comfortable on the ball.
James Milner – 7
Was chosen by Klopp because he’s a ‘Yorkshireman’ … and also because he brings a tireless work rate and experience – which he did.
Mohamed Salah – 7
His involvement came in bursts – his touches of quality and speed of movement caused concern for the Huddersfield defence – scored Liverpool’s third from the penalty spot.
Sadio Mane – 6
A mixed first-half featuring loose touches and passes but also an assist – had chances to get his goal in the second-half with two headers.
Roberto Firmino – 7
A finish from the tightest of angles once again exhibited his fabulous vision and execution – his movement allowed his fellow attackers time and space on the ball.
