Goodbye to Grujic, Van Dijk’s Fitness and the Sturridge Transfer Saga

Afternoon Bulletin

Transfer News

Serbian international Marko Grujic has joined Championship side Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season.

Grujic has featured in 6 games this season for Liverpool, gaining Champions League experience in games against Hoffenheim and Maribor. As well as Champions League experience, the 6ft 3in midfielder has also been capped 4 times by Serbia and will be looking to make their world cup squad in June.

He will continue his development in Cardiff as the Welsh side look to gain promotion back to the Premier League, they currently sit in 3rd place.

Italian giants, Inter Milan, have been linked with a move for injury prone striker Daniel Sturridge. The former Chelsea and City man has struggled to find a place in the starting eleven, with opportunities limited for the 28-year-old this season.

Luciano Spalletti would prefer the Birmingham born forward on loan. Apparently though, Liverpool would prefer the deal to be a permanent one. However, according to The Mail, Liverpool have told Sevilla, they will not let them sign Sturridge.

Bayern Munich look to have won the race for Liverpool target Leon Goretzka. The Schalke midfielder is out of contract in the summer, but looks to stay in Germany, rather than a move to Merseyside.

Team News

£75 million man Virgil Van Dijk may be out of the clash against Swansea on Monday night due to a risk of developing scar tissue. The defender that signed from Southampton scored the winner in his first game against Everton but missed the thrilling win over Premiership leaders Manchester City due to the injury. However, Van Dijk, Moreno and Henderson have all been back in training since Thursday.

Loris Karius will look to hold his place in goal for Monday night as Simon Mignolet questions his future at the club. The Belgian was dropped for the City win. Liverpool are favourites to sign Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak but the keeper is unlikely to move this month.
