Injury News:
Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah will return to the Liverpool squad for Sunday’s game against Manchester City.
Salah has been out injured with a groin injury and has made a full recovery. Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his press conference the Egyptian will be available.
Alberto Moreno has also resumed training following his ankle injury. The Spanish full-back suffered an injury in the Champions League tie against Spartak Moscow last month. Moreno is on course to be fit for Sunday’s game against City.
Transfer News:
Liverpool are interested in bringing Naby Keita to the club in the January transfer window. Keita signed for the reds in August but will join the team in July. However, the club must pay a premium to RB Leipzig in order to land the Guinean. A fee of around £15m is what the German side want.
However, Leipzig coach did address the rumours of Keita leaving early and said to the BBC “The situation is the same as it was all season – there’s no reason for us to let Naby Keita go early.”
It remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck for Keita but with less than three weeks left of the transfer window, anything can happen.
Liverpool are also prepared to sell striker Daniel Sturridge for a fee of £30m this transfer window. Sturridge is keen to leave the Merseyside club in order to gain more game time in a bid to break into the England squad for the World Cup this June.
Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent has officially joined Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the season. Kent spent the beginning of the season on loan with German side SC Freiburg.
Cameron Brannagan has completed his move to League One side Oxford United. Brannagan signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. He joined Liverpool at the age of five made his Liverpool debut in 2015 and went onto make eight appearances for the club.
Youngsters:
Liverpool U23’s suffered a 3-2 defeat against Manchester City on Friday evening. Goals from Harry Wilson and Toni Gomes weren’t enough to rescue a point for the reds. Despite their second consecutive loss, Liverpool’s U23 remain top of the premier league sitting a point ahead of Leicester City who have a game in hand.
Striker Rhian Brewster was also stretchered off Friday’s game as he landed awkwardly whilst challenging for a header.
Awards:
Mohamed Salah has picked up his fourth Liverpool Player of the Month award following his move from Roma in the summer. The Egyptian’s six goals in eight appearances last month was enough to earn him the accolade.
