Liverpool v Leicester preview by Foxes fan @MichaelRegan

Hi Michael, can you please sum up Leicesters season so far please?

Up, down and average. The fixture ‘computer’ dealt us a terrible start to the season, once that was over it’s been much more enjoyable. Enough quick fire counter attacking to remind us the team is still capable of turning the best defences inside out… it just doesn’t happen every week anymore.

What are your thoughts on your new manager Claude Puel?

I haven’t been that underwhelmed by an appointment since Claudio Ranieri! For that reason I withhold judgement. The team are having him, and that’s important when the players hold so much power at the club! Let’s see what happens after the transfer window.

Were you surprised to see Ranieri leave Leicester last season?

If you’d told me he would be sacked before last season started, you’d be picking me off the floor. Three months in and he had to go. Players had a lot to answer for and for a few hours after the announcement there was some resentment towards them. Then the media rounded on the owners and the squad and you instinctively sided with the club. The majority of those players had been there a long time, through thick and thin, when we played Liverpool in the first game after Ranieri’s sacking the club had galvanised. I felt incredibly sad, but not angry.

What positions do you think you should strengthen your squad in January?

Cover and a long term replacement for Simpson at RB (Trippier has been linked). Another good CB would be great as well. We’ve got Adrien Silva ready to start in January so no need to worry about a new CM.

Who has been your stand out player this season?

Harry Maguire. He’s on the end of everything and can’t half play a bit as well. At some point he’s going to win a 50/50 in his own area, get up, beat 5 men whilst looking like he’s about to lose the ball 6 times and wallop one in from 30 yards.

Score prediction and why?

We can’t defend set pieces, we’re inconsistent, we’re tired, we’re away and Liverpool are on fire so I’m going 3-1 to Leicester, because it’s Leicester and why not?
