Constantly exhibited his pace – being one of the only full-backs this season to show he can keep up with Liverpool’s pacey attackers

Newcastle’s captain was always in the ear of his fellow defenders and it was his grit and determination that ensured his side hung on for the point

Looked vulnerable at times and one of his mistakes presented Salah with an opportunity

Had a difficult afternoon trying to contain Salah – looked weak and was easily dispossessed

Looked fairly impressive – was a big presence in the Newcastle midfield

Newcastle’s best player – provided a threat from wide and produced good quality deliveries whilst being bright and dynamic on the ball

Didn’t have too many opportunities to affect the match but was tiresome in terms of effort

Appeared quite weak on the ball and, in terms of stature, was easy to deal with – however, his pace was more of a problem

Was helped by Matip in scoring Newcastle’s equaliser and proved to be a threat as the lone striker

Simon Mignolet – 6
Was hardly called upon for the ninety minutes and, yet again, could not prevent Newcastle’s equaliser

Did not produce much in his performance to take note of except a high challenge on Atsu which earned him a yellow card
Joel Matip – 5
His defensive chemistry with Lovren was exposed once again when Joselu was able to run straight through the ten-yard gap between them
Dejan Lovren – 6
Was a danger in both penalty areas
Alberto Moreno – 6
Performed reasonably well against a decent player in Ritchie – showed that he is becoming more defensively aware
Georginio Wijnaldum – 6
A games rest seemed to give him a new lease of life – had plenty of energy, worked hard and should have scored

Once again, at the heart of the midfield, he performed well dictating a lot of Liverpool’s play
Philippe Coutinho – 7
Scored a brilliant goal with a long-range strike and was a level above everyone else, especially in the first half – Liverpool’s best player once again

Had a lot of the ball and created a lot of chances but, not for the first time this season, his lack of clinical finishing and decision-making let him down
Daniel Sturridge – 6
Had a couple of big chances, despite not scoring he showed his quality

Was subbed by Klopp having been below his usual standards and missing one or two big opportunities
