Player Ratings

Leicester City

Ben Hamer – 6

Looked slightly nervy in the early stages but he and his defence gathered confidence as the match progressed

Daniel Amartey – 6

Didn’t really convince at full-back and needed the help of Morgan to try and limit the threat of Robertson on the right side

Wes Morgan – 7

Held the Leicester back-line together

Aleksander Dragovic – 6

Tough start for the Austrian but did what was asked of him and produced a solid performance

Ben Chilwell – 6

Got the better of Oxlade-Chamberlain on the left and blocked one of his early opportunities fantastically

Mark Albrighton – 5

Was required to help out Amartey in defence for much of the first half but did manage to push further up the pitch in the second

Wilfred Ndidi – 6

Gave away possession on numerous occasions but had plenty of energy and commitment

Vicente Iborra – 6

Took time to adjust to the speed of the game – this being his first competitive start for the club since joining from Sevilla – but grew into the game and produced a solid debut

Demarai Gray – 6

Comfortable in possession and made some threatening runs at the Liverpool defence but final ball was lacking

Leonardo Ulloa – 6

Was substituted in the first half with an ankle injury – had been fairly isolated up front until then

Islam Slimani – 7

One moment of magic by the Algerian took the match away from Liverpool

Liverpool

Danny Ward – 6

Looked fairly comfortable in the first half but couldn’t prevent Leicester from scoring two in the second half – one scrappy and one spectacular

Jon Flanagan – 5

Was anonymous in first half but, after the break, struggled to deal with Gray and offered little going forward

Joe Gomez – 5

Starting at centre-back – was caught out of position at times but did start many of Liverpool’s attacks in first half with good passing

Ragnar Klavan – 5

One of Klavan’s better performances but wasn’t tested too much

Andrew Robertson – 7

Impressed with his crosses, especially in the first half, which were just asking to be finished off

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6

Had a lot of the ball but failed to do much with it, was also culpable of leaving defence exposed yet again

Jordan Henderson – 6

Looked clumsy at times and even got in the way of his teammates – did, however, play some clever passes in the centre of the pitch

Marko Grujic – 4

Guilty of giving away too many fouls and failed to do anything positive of note – on this showing he’s a liability more so than an asset

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 4

Wasteful in possession and took countless poor set-pieces – not a full debut to remember

Dominic Solanke – 6

Was lively and a presence up-front – promising match by the youngster

Philippe Coutinho – 6

Created a few chances and sent one free-kick over the bar but things didn’t quite go his way – was substituted at halftime.
