Wolfsburg join battle to sign Reds striker Divock Origi
Liverpool striker Divock Origi has emerged as a target for Wolfsburg. The Belgian is struggling to find playing time at Anfield and is being linked with a move away from the Merseyside this summer.
Numerous clubs are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old with Newcastle United, Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham and Werder Bremen all showing interest in the Belgian striker.
Liverpool is understood to have used Origi as a makeweight in the potential deal for Monaco star Thomas Lemar and according to reports, Wolfsburg have now made register interest for the Reds striker with the Thursday’s transfer deadline looming. The German club want to add a forward and they are ready to offer Origi the regular football he desires ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Southampton relaxed over Virgil van Dijk transfer
Virgil van Dijk will not be joining Liverpool before the end of the transfer window unless Southampton change their stance dramatically. Southampton have yet to receive a formal bid for the Dutch international.
Reports claim that Southampton are relaxed about Van Dijk’s position as he continues to train away from the rest of his team-mates. A fee of £70m could tempt Southampton into selling but the Reds have yet to make a bid for the defender.
Liverpool FC open Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain talks
Liverpool have opened negotiations with Arsenal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the England international rejected a move to Chelsea while choosing Liverpool as his preferred destination.
Chelsea were in pole position for the England international after their £35 million bid was accepted but the player would prefer to join the Reds instead. With less than 12 months remaining on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current deal, the Gunners have altered their stance in refusing to deal with Anfield officials.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to cost Liverpool in the region of £40m as Arsenal look to cash in or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. The midfielder is understood to be keen on working with Jurgen Klopp.
