Liverpool Rumours Round-Up: Moreno, Keita & Markovic

Liverpool Transfer Rumours

Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah officially became Liverpool players on July 1 having already finalised their moves earlier in the summer. Solanke joins from Chelsea on a free transfer, though a compensation fee is yet to be agreed upon, while Salah signed a five-year deal from AS Roma.

Apparently, Salah’s move from Roma may not be the final piece of business Liverpool conduct between the two clubs this summer as Roma are interested in signing out of favour left-back Alberto Moreno from Liverpool according to reports.

Moreno is likely to leave Anfield this summer but Liverpool have already turned down a £11 million bid from Napoli after failing to meet the £15 million valuation set by the Anfield club. Napoli have since reportedly switched their focus to Roma’s Mario Rui instead.

Another hot transfer rumour which have been going on for quite some time is RB Leipzig midfielder, Naby Keita. However, reports suggest that Keita has apparently agreed personal terms but they have been no breakthrough so far.

Titi Camara insisted that Keita had already picked out his shirt number with the 22-year-old keen to take on the No.8 jersey which was last worn by Kop icon Steven Gerrard and the number has remained vacant since the Englishman departed in 2015.

The arrival of Konrad Laimer at Leipzig on Friday evening, with the midfielder joining from sister club Red Bull Salzburg, may have hastened Keita’s departure to Liverpool.

Porto midfielder Ruben Neves who have been regularly linked with a move to Merseyside is reportedly closing in on a sensational £18 million deal to join Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Though he is unlikely to have ended up at Anfield this summer, Neves moving to the Molineux will be quite a coup.

Crotone have set sights on out of favour Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic as the club’s executives try to build a team which can achieve an easier survival next season. Having survived their first Serie A season ever, they will be hoping that Markovic can help them avoid relegation next season.

The Serbian winger had a stunning 2013/14 campaign at Benfica but failed to justify his €25 million price-tag when he moved to Liverpool the following summer. Since then he had been send on loans at Fenerbache, Sporting CP and Hull City as the 23-year-old tries to get his career back on track. Unfortunately, he has never managed to get back on track showing the same potential he had in Portugal. Crotone will try to take him on a season loan deal, according to reports in Italy.

After Crystal Palace dropped out of the race to sign £30m-rated Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho, Stoke City appear to be eyeing to sign the French defender.

The French centre-back who is deemed as surplus to requirements at Anfield had spent the second-half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace. A permanent move to South London now looks off the table as Steve Parish admitted re-signing Sakho was “not going to work out” and added, “We have other business to get done.”

However, Liverpool’s current valuation of £30m appears to be pricing the Potters out of a move.
