Ings and Mane return to full training
Liverpool duo Danny Ings and Sadio Mane returned to full training at Melwood on Tuesday morning. Both players linked up with the rest of the Liverpool squad for the first time this summer as they both took a significant step forward in their rehabilitation from respective knee injuries.
Ings has been out of action since last October after sustaining a knee problem in a League Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield while Mane picked up his knee injury in the Merseyside derby on April 1.
Both are set to be included in Liverpool’s squad for the pre-season training camp in Germany this week.
Klopp discusses Everton’s impressive summer transfers
Jurgen Klopp is unfazed by Everton’s impressive summer transfer window spending. Everton, with nine new arrivals so far, have only spent less than Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea this summer
Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, and Michael Keane all arrived at Everton for fees over £20million, but Liverpool manager Klopp is not concerned.
“I don’t know why they do the things they do, that’s why I’m completely fine,” he said.
“Yes, I heard, of course, a few things that they have done. Strikers, good. Wayne Rooney, you don’t have to talk about. The centre-half came. Good. So a lot of really good business. Klaassen. So it’s all good.
“But, at the end of the day, just like us, they can only line up 11 players. Then we have to see what will happen. But all the teams have tried to get stronger.
“With Everton, usually derbies are really close games. I don’t think we have gone into any of the last few derbies thinking: ‘It’s only Everton.’
“No. There is a lot of respect and if they’ve done good business, well done. But when we face them we still want to win.”
Barcelona officials arrive in England for €100m target
Barcelona officials have arrived in England to push for a deal to sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho. It is reported that Barcelona are ready to test Liverpool with a €100m bid.
Liverpool and Barcelona have not even agreed on the transfer fee officially and they are yet to agree on personal terms with the player. But while a move appears possible this summer, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim any agreement could be delayed by Liverpool.
It is understood that Liverpool are unwilling to consider accepting an offer until at least August 24 after their two-legged Champions League group stage qualifying play offs with progressing the Reds’ immediate priority.
