Liverpool Rumours Round-Up: Van Dijk, Laborde & Keita

Liverpool Transfer Rumours

Liverpool are reportedly refusing to give up on signing Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk. It seemed the Reds would give up on the Dutchman after that public apology for tapping him up, but it didn’t take long for the Reds to be linked with a fresh move for him.

The Mail claimed Chelsea are preparing a huge bid for the Southampton centre-back but suggests that Van Dijk still wants a move to Merseyside. Sources from the Sunday Express says that Liverpool are willing to pay up to £70million for the 25-year-old’s services

Jurgen Klopp will continue the Anfield spending spree with a £30million move for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. After completing the £39m signing for Roma winger Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool boss has now set his sights on raiding the Emirates for the Gunners England midfielder. The 23-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract and has become frustrated with the lack of regular football under Arsene Wenger.

Liverpool have been linked with Bordeaux forward Gaetan Laborde as Jurgen Klopp wants to add to their forward ranks this summer. The Reds are interested in the 23-year-old striker and are considering a €10m bid for the Arsenal target.

Laborde has come through the ranks at Bordeaux and enjoyed his best season for the club in 2016/17, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. He is contracted to the Ligue 1 club until 2020 but would be interested in making a move to the Premier League with either Liverpool or Arsenal.

Liverpool highly rated youngster Ryan Kent is also a loan target for Championship side Birmingham. The winger has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Coventry City and Barnsley, respectively, and now looks set for another season away from Anfield.

With Kent in such high demand and fellow youngsters Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo ahead of him in the Anfield ranks, another year on loan would seem to make sense for all parties.  Harry Redknapp is believed to be an admirer but face competition from fellow Championship sides.

Liverpool pursuit for Naby Keita hits a blow as RB Leipzig have slapped a £70million ($118m) price tag on Keita’s head after receiving confirmation that they will compete in next season’s Champions League. Keita is reportedly willing to remain at Leipzig for one more season as they look to replicate their success in their first campaign in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Star, Liverpool are also rumoured to be tracking Schalke midfielder, Max Meyer. Meyer is competing at the Under-21 European Championships, and Tottenham are also interested in the 21-year-old.
