Firmino Bonuses Revealed
Liverpool star Roberto Firmino earns a basic wage of £68,085 a week at Anfield however, the figure increases every time he scores or assists a goal. It has been revealed that the Brazilian has landed a staggering £1.1million in bonuses alone this season.
Firmino has scored 12 times so far this season, with each of his first five strikes netting him £25,000. Goals 6-10 land him £45,000 and 16-20 £65,000.
Firmino has created more chances than any other Liverpool player this term having laid on 73 opportunities for his teammates. And six of those have been converted, earning him £190,000, which works out at over £31,000 per assist.
However, Firmino’s £29million move to Liverpool from Hoffenheim in 2015 is under the microscope. It is reported that the Bundesliga side received just £5.8million of the fee, with the remainder going to owner Dietmar Hopp’s company Transfair. It is alleged that Hopp withdrew his business interest in the company just days later.
FIFA may be interested in the Firmino saga, but there is no suggestion that Liverpool are guilty of any wrongdoing.
Markovic Out For The Season
Hull City’s Lazar Markovic has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury. Hull City will be without the Liverpool loanee for the remainder two games as they fight for Premier League survival.
Markovic limped out of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Sunderland with the injury and the club have now confirmed that he will miss Hull City’s final two games of the season. Markovic will be a big miss for Marco Silva’s side but the Hull City boss does have options as right-back Omar Elabdellaoui who had been struggling with back injury is confirmed to be fit and will likely be included in the squad on Sunday.
Player recalls failed Liverpool move
Back in the summer of 2013, it was reported that Lorenzo Melgarejo was leaving Benfica to join Liverpool on a one-year loan deal, with an option for a permanent transfer that would cost €10m.
But despite the claims of the transfer happening, it eventually did not happen and Melgarejo ended up signing for Russian side Kuban Krasnodar in a €5m deal.
“From Benfica I was about to go to Liverpool, but I ended up going to Russia,” Melgarejo told Sin Falta.
“My head was already at Liverpool, everything was, and it collapsed in the last moment.”
Melgarejo went on to spend three seasons at Kuban Krasnodar before joining Spartak Moscow for €4.5m last summer.
