New kit revealed, Ings accomplishes personal goal, and U23s head to final

Afternoon Bulletin

2017/18 commemorative kit unveiled

Liverpool have unveiled their 2017/18 kit and it’s now available for pre-order. The strip features the clubs 125 year commemorative crest and the kit as a whole has a distinctively retro feel. As described on Liverpoolfc.com, “The design is firmly rooted in LFC history and takes inspiration from previous kits: returning to a rich, darker red and incorporating tonal pin stripes, with the jersey framed by a v-neck white-tipped collar.”

Ings impressive rehab feat

Danny Ings has completed an impressive achievement while undergoing rehabilitation, making him the pride of Melwood. The 24-year-old ruptured his ACL four months ago and as part of his treatment, he set himself the goal of swimming 21 miles in the pool, the equivalent of the English Channel. Ings has since completed the feat, 1,700 lengths, which was made even more impressive by the fact that he can only use his upper body. The Englishman’s attitude to the goal and his rehab in general has apparently “blown Klopp away”. He is now reportedly ahead of schedule and is expected to be part of the first team squad next year. We all wish him the best of luck.

Transfer blunder over England superstar

Departing Liverpool CEO, Ian Ayre, has made an admission that would make many Liverpool fans sick to their stomach. The Reds were apparently interested in a teenager named Dele Alli, while he playing for League One side MK Dons, but were eventually put off by his £5million price tag. Dele, who was a Liverpool fan and longed for a move to Anfield, was picked up by Tottenham and has since become one of England’s most talented players. Ayre said they “didn’t feel the player matched the demand”.

U23s semi-final success

Liverpool U23s are into the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup after a convincing 6-0 victory over Rochdale. Goals from Yan Dhanda (2), Toni Gomes (2), Tom Brewitt and Matty Virtue secured the win with an impressive and dominant all-round performance. The result means that the youngsters will face either Fleetwood Town or Blackburn Rovers in the final.

Sakho injury setback

Mamadou Sakho has suffered a potentially season ending injury while playing for Crystal Palace. The Frenchman had to be stretched off during the 1-0 defeat to Spurs, after twisting his knee. This could mean that his successful loan spell with the Eagles is over and could also damage the Reds transfer tactics in the summer. After a series of inc, dents it was expected that Sakho would be heading out of Anfield, but a potentially long-term injury would affect his value and could add complications to any upcoming negotiations or deals.
