Mane in team of the year
Saido Mane has been named in the PFA Team of the Year 2017 following a very successful first season at Anfield. The Senegalese international has scored 13 goals and contributed five assists during his 27 Premier League appearances and is fully deserving of his spot in the team. The team is dominated by Chelsea and Spurs, with only Mane, Romelu Lukakau and David De Gea making the team from other clubs.
Lallana back in training
Adam Lallana posted a picture on Instagram yesterday, that Liverpool fans have been waiting a while to see. The snap depicted him lacing up his boots, accompanied by the caption, “Time to step it up”. This follows Lallana’s spell on the sidelines after he picked up an injury while on international duty with England. The midfielder hasn’t featured for the club since 26th March and everyone at Liverpool is optimistic he will make his return against Watford on 1st May.
Liverpool don’t have Hart set on new goalkeeper
Last month Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola stated that Joe Hart would not be sold to any Premier League rivals. This all but eradicated any interest that Liverpool had in the English shot stopper. However, The Metro were obviously short of news yesterday and decided to celebrate Hart’s 30th birthday by dragging up old rumours. They reported that the Reds were readying a £20million bid him. This story was almost immediately suppressed by Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, who tweeted saying that Hart “hasn’t been at any point & won’t be [a] future LFC transfer target”. This ‘speculation’ comes during a time when both Jürgen Klopp and the fans appear to be happy with the goalkeeping resources at the club.
Good news following Leicester’s exit
On Tuesday night, Leicester City’s fairytale run in the Champions League came to an end, following a 2-1 aggregate loss to Atletico Madrid. While the rest of the footballing world was disappointed, Liverpool and the other teams chasing a top four Premier League finish breathed a sigh of relief. This was because there was a possible scenario, where the Foxes won the Champions League and Manchester United won the Europa league, which would mean only the top three teams would play CL football next season. Liverpool will take comfort knowing that fourth place will be good enough.
