Liverpool manager Klopp says Reds could have done with Lady Luck in 1-1 draw with Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp has cursed Lady Luck after Liverpool failed to hang on to their single goal lead to eventually draw 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford in today’s big Premier League showdown.

The Reds enjoyed long spells of domination and led through James Milner’s penalty on 27 minutes when Paul Pogba stupidly handled a corner as he went up for a header with Dejan Lovren.

Klopp’s men had to try to resist the long-ball game employed by Jose Mourinho as the minutes ticked down. And they buckled with time running out just as it seemed the Anfield outfit were going to hold on to their advantage and move back to second in the top flight.

As time began to ebb away, it was blood and thunder in the Liverpool box and heroic defending and a super display from keeper Simon Mignolet was not enough keep the Red Devils at bay.

The home side eventually scored when Antonio Valencia crossed for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to head in for 1-1.

Liverpool boss Klopp must accept his side are now in third place, seven points off of league leaders Chelsea. And he said:

“In the end period of the game when United started playing long balls after 80 minutes of high intense football it is really, really hard.”

“Yes, I hoped we would have a bit of luck, unfortunately not but all good. Tomorrow I can enjoy the result, but tonight only the performance.”

“But it is so intense. They play long balls, it was a wild game. There was a lot of action in the last few minutes. We were here to win the game, which is why we we are not 100 per cent satisfied.”
