Jurgen Klopp celebrates one year at Liverpool Football Club and with the international break upon us it is a good time to reflect on what has certainly been a roller coaster last 12 months.
Klopp has not only changed fortunes on the pitch, but he has transformed the entire mentality of the football club, from the players, to the fans, to the owners, he’s done what he told everyone he had to do and he’s changed doubters to believers.
A year ago Rodgers’ approach had clearly run its course and a mindset of fear had overcome one of ambition. Results at the time were symptomatic of a manager who had not only run out of ideas, but who had lost faith in his once bold convictions.
Of course it hasn’t been plain sailing with Jurgen Klopp, there have been a few issues; injuries, the atmosphere at Anfield, the ticket price protest and the Sakho saga. But for the first time in years Liverpool fans have confidence in their own club again.
Getting to two finals in his first seven months in charge, one being a European one as well, was testament to the progress that’s been made at the club, and although Liverpool came home empty-handed in both, the foundations were put in place last year to kick on.
However Liverpool are currently sitting fourth in the table, see Coral enhanced odds on Bettingexpert, just two points behind leaders Manchester City, in what so far has been Liverpool’s joint-third best start to a Premier league season since its creation in 1992 and whilst its very much a work in progress the important thing is that when Klopp identifies a problem he will fix it.
Now with a good pre-season under their belt and a promising set of early season results the future for Liverpool FC looks brighter than it has done for some considerable time.
