RODGERS LIVERPOOL GOES ON THE COUNTER-ATTACK TO TOP THE LEAGUE

Friends Of Liverpool

Brendan Rodger’s Liverpool sit proudly on top of the Premier League after securing a valuable point away to Swansea on Monday night.

Goals from Daniel Sturridge and debutant Victor Moses cancelled out former Red – Johnjo Shelvey’s 3rd minute strike against his old club in the 1st half.

However, in the second-half, Swansea dominated the game and deservedly equalised through Michu on 64 mins.

The loss of Coutinho to a shoulder injury in that time forced Liverpool into playing a defensive game, soaking up the considerable Swansea efforts on goal.

The Reds appeared happy to settle for a draw to ensure a return to the top of the Premier League table, one point clear of Spurs and Arsenal.

Manager Brendan Rogers seemed happy with the result:

”We had done some work on the counter-attack and flooding forward, because we knew there were going to be spells in the game that we wouldn’t have the ball. We exploited that quite well for the second goal.”

Despite securing a point and going back top of the League, Liverpool will need to be more ambitious if they wish to become real challengers for the Title or the top four.
