Pepe Reina is set to join Napoli for next Season on loan, according to Tony Barrett of The Times.
Their Liverpool correspondent who is in the know tweeted the news that former Reds Boss, Rafa Benitez has agreed a year-long deal between LFC and Reina for his services for 2013/14.
The arrival of Simon Mignolet to Anfield as first-choice goalkeeper would have made Pepe Reina have to sit in the dug-out for most of next Season, something the quality keeper is understandably not prepared to do.
It is believed that Reina is the goal keeper in waiting for Victor Valdes of Barcelona who has decided to stay at the Bernabeu for one more Season.
Pepe Reina is then anticipated to join Barca as his replacement the following year.
Since joining Liverpool in 2005 from Villareal, Reina has established himself as a top quality goalkeeper for the Reds and he has stayed loyal to the club under many changes in Manager and ownership.
If he does go out on loan to Napoli, it will end a fine Liverpool career on something of a sour note after his very successful career on Merseyside.
