SUAREZ DOUBLE DOWNS STOKE

Friends Of Liverpool

Liverpool are through to the League Cup Quarter-Finals after beating Stoke 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium.

Kenny Dalglish has Luiz Suarez to thank after his side went in one-nil down at half time due to a Kenwyne Jones headed goal on 44 mins.
This was despite Liverpool having shots saved by Sorensen from Andy Carroll, Martin Kelly and Suarez who was a problem for Stoke all evening.

However, Liverpool came out in the second half all guns blazing and Suarez cut in from the left to fire an unstoppable shot past the Stoke keeper.
The game really was a classic Cup-tie with lots of tough tackling and not much in the way of neat, creative play, it looked to be heading for extra-time until Suarez stepped up again on 85 mins to score with a great header from a Jordan Henderson cross.

There were 4 minutes of injury-time but Liverpool, without Adam, Gerrard, Enrique or Downing managed to hold out for a great win in the Potteries, the first in ten years.

Man of the Match: Luiz Suarez
