GERARD OUT FOR SEVEN DAYS!

Friends Of Liverpool

Steven Gerrard finally returned to Melwood after injuring his groin with England last Saturday and after a scan, it was revealed he has an abductor strain to his groin.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is furious that the player stayed on with the England set-up until as late as Tuesday, even trying to play in a practise game only to aggravate the injury further.

We are now desperately short of cover in midfield for the game against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon as Mascherano and Lucas won’t be back at Anfield until Friday.

Rafa will now have few options in midfield for this important match and may have to draft in Plessis and Jay Spearing into the squad as cover.

Everytime there is an International break there is an injury to Gerrard or Torres and the fact that these games were meaningless makes it all the more galling.
