{"id":794,"date":"2009-09-14T16:55:00","date_gmt":"2009-09-14T15:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.friendsofliverpool.com\/2009\/09\/14\/who-gets-the-80-million\/"},"modified":"2017-02-09T11:53:51","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T11:53:51","slug":"who-gets-the-80-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.friendsofliverpool.com\/2009\/09\/who-gets-the-80-million\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO GETS THE \u00a380 MILLION?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Liverpool today announced a new shirt-sponsorship deal with Standard Charter, a multi-national banking group.<br \/>\nThe deal worth \u00a320 million a year for four years will dwarf the \u00a37.5 million a year that long-standing sponsors Carlsberg had been paying the club.<br \/>\nLiverpool&#8217;s Managing Director Christian Purslow said: &#8221;This is a huge step forward for the club financially and that can only be helpful to create the conditions in which we can restart the stadium project.&#8221;<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s all very well and fine but an extra \u00a312.5 million a year is not going to lay too many bricks at the new ground without having to borrow hundreds of millions of pounds to get the place built.<br \/>\nWithout major personal investment in the club by the owners or, hopefully new owners, the stadium will not be built and I would prefer it only to be built with new owners money or not at all.<br \/>\nI would prefer the extra revenue to be used to improve Rafa&#8217;s team and squad.<br \/>\nThe new M.D. Christian Purslow seems to be the right man for the club since he replaced Rick Parry.<br \/>\nRafa Benitez is very pleased with him claiming the two are in touch everyday and that they are in complete agreement over transfers, player contracts and so on: &#8221;I would say we have a meeting not just every week but every day.
