Major bookmaker Ladbrokes have announced that they will no longer be taking bets on whether or not Virgil Van Dijk will join Liverpool in the summer. The Southampton centre-back has been at the forefront of all transfer rumour columns for the last few months, with his future very much in the balance. The club at which Van Dijk will play his football next season has been changing almost every other day and it looked as though he was set to join Manchester City just a few days ago. However, this latest development suggests that there is an impending announcement which could result in the Dutchman moving to Anfield.<\/p>\n
Alex Rea, from the Liverpool Echo, has also recently spoken to Van Dijk and the target described Liverpool as a \u201cbeautiful club\u201d. It was also revealed that he had been speaking to international teammate Georginio Wijnaldum about a potential future at the club. Van Dijk has apparently been impressed with Jurgen Klopp\u2019s personal involvement in the negotiations which could make Liverpool his desired destination.<\/p>\n
After next season\u2019s away shirt was released earlier this week, a limited edition has also been announced which surprisingly features the colour blue. The strip pays homage to the first ever kit that was worn in 1892 when the club was first established. Liverpool Football Club was founded after fallouts on the Everton board, which led to the new Merseyside team playing in blue and white for their first four seasons. The special kit is the same design as the regular away kit but features light blue stripes instead of green. Only 1,892 shirts will be made available.<\/p>\n
