their high scoring victories?<\/p>\n<p>There have been other big wins this season under Jurgen Klopp, against the likes of Bournemouth and Rangers, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, other eras have seen similar goal frenzies.<\/p>\n<p>Under Rafa Benitez, Liverpool beat Besiktas 8-0 in the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00e9rard Houllier\u2019s Reds also beat Stoke City 8-0 by the same scoreline in the League Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kenny Dalglish\u2019s side in the 80s beat London sides Fulham 10-0 and Crystal Palace 9-0.<\/p>\n<p>Before that Bob Paisley\u2019s Anfield machines annihilated Oulun Palloseura 10-1.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s go through each one in turn as we take a stroll down memory lane.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"united\">Liverpool 7 vs 0 Manchester United \u2013 Sunday 5<sup>th<\/sup> March 2023<\/h2>\n<p>This one is feeling fresh and must bring a smile to every Liverpool fan\u2019s face.<\/p>\n<p>Going into the match, United were the form team of the Premier League and the hosts were seen as languishing behind having had a difficult season.<\/p>\n<p>But Liverpool turned the form book on its head with a majestic attacking display.<\/p>\n<p>And boy were they clinical with seven of their eight shots on goal turning to gold.<\/p>\n<p>Cody Gakpo got the ball rolling just before half-time with an exquisite curling finish.<\/p>\n<p>Then came SIX second-half goals, as Darwin N\u00fa\u00f1ez tapped home from close range for 2-0.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.friendsofliverpool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Firmino-x800.png\" alt=\"Firmino\" width=\"800\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.friendsofliverpool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Firmino-x800.png 800w, https:\/\/www.friendsofliverpool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Firmino-x800-300x255.png 300w, 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The floodgates quickly opened as Gakpo got his second with a fine finish from an acute angle.<\/p>\n<p>Mohamed Salah then got in on the act as he slammed in a first-time effort.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00fa\u00f1ez then headed in his second to make it five.<\/p>\n<p>Salah then got his second of the match, a significant one as he broke Robbie Fowler\u2019s record to become the club\u2019s all-time top Premier League goal scorer.<\/p>\n<p>There was even time for Bobby Firmino to get on the scoresheet as he stepped off the bench to flick home as his legendary Anfield career comes to a conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>This was Liverpool\u2019s biggest ever win against their long-time arch rivals, and\u00a0 United\u2019s heaviest defeat since 1931.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"rangers\">Rangers 1 vs 7 Liverpool \u2013 Wednesday 12<sup>th<\/sup> October 2022<\/h2>\n<p>The Scottish giants took a surprise lead in the 17<sup>th<\/sup> minute as Scott Arfield slotted in a fine goal.<\/p>\n<p>But Liverpool rebounded immediately five minutes later as an unmarked Firmino headed in Konstantinos Tsimikas\u2019s corner to net the all-important equaliser.<\/p>\n<p>It was all Klopp\u2019s men thereafter in the second-half, as Firmino stylishly tucked in Joe Gomez\u2019s cross.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00fa\u00f1ez then made it 3-1 with a nice strike into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tjmFaW0KQVw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Salah then dinked in a typical Salah goal for four.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few minutes later the Egyptian was celebrating again as he hooked in a fine goal past Allan McGregor as the substitute made an instant impact.<\/p>\n<p>And it was a five-minute hat-trick for Mo, the fastest ever in Champions League history, as he blasted into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n<p>The result was confirmed as youngster Harvey Elliott volleyed in for his first ever Champions League goal, much to the delight of his boss.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bournemouth\">Liverpool 9 vs 0 Bournemouth \u2013 Saturday 27<sup>th<\/sup> August 2022<\/h2>\n<p>This is Liverpool\u2019s biggest ever Premier League win, and was much needed for their first win of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Luis D\u00edaz opened the scoring with a towering header.<\/p>\n<p>Elliot then made it 2-0 with a sublime 25-yard curling drive.<\/p>\n<p>Trent Alexander-Arnold then struck a thunderbolt of his own to put the home side 3-0 up and cruising.<\/p>\n<p>It was soon four after just 31 minutes, as a defensive error from the Cherries saw Firmino cash in for an easy finish.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AuLa8iATjus\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Virgil van Dijk then made it 5-0 on the stroke of half-time with a bullet header from an Andy Robertson corner.<\/p>\n<p>Within a minute of the second-half, Liverpool were still on fire as Chris Mepham diverted an Alexander-Arnold cross into his own net.<\/p>\n<p>A chuckling Firmino soon got his second of the game as Robertson\u2019s shot was palmed into his path for a simple rebound goal to make it seven.<\/p>\n<p>New signing Fabio Carvalho scooped home for number eight.<\/p>\n<p>And another cheeky header from D\u00edaz, who ironically began the goalscoring shenanigans, ended the day with the final goal.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"besiktas\">Liverpool 8 vs 0 Be\u015fikta\u015f \u2013 Tuesday 6<sup>th<\/sup> November 2007<\/h2>\n<p>Having lost 2-1 to the same opponent just a fortnight before, Benitez\u2019s team knew they needed a quick start.<\/p>\n<p>And that they did after 19 minutes as Peter Crouch one-on-one bundled in the rebound to get the Reds up and running on another big Champions League evening at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p>Yossi Benayoun volleyed in a fine goal into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli soon got his second as he tapped in an easy rebound.<\/p>\n<p>And Benayoun made it a hat-trick as he poached another rebound, a copy-cat goal to his last strike.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YrtH3gNHgtk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Captain Steven Gerrard smashed home to make it 5-0 to the hosts.<\/p>\n<p>A Ryan Babel flick from a Benayoun cross added another to the scoreboard.<\/p>\n<p>And Crouch, who began the goal scoring blitz, got his second with a glancing header to give Liverpool a stunning 8-0 win.<\/p>\n<p>At the time it was a then record Champions League victory, but it is now the joint highest.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"stoke\">Stoke City 0 vs 8 Liverpool \u2013 Wednesday 29<sup>th<\/sup> November 2000<\/h2>\n<p>This League Cup fourth-round encounter saw Houllier\u2019s men begin their quest for silverware.<\/p>\n<p>Which as we all know the 2000-2001 season capped a historic treble, and this competition being the first of such trophies.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool in their smart yellow jerseys began brightly as Christian Ziege dispatched Fowler\u2019s pinpoint cross.<\/p>\n<p>Vladim\u00edr \u0160micer made it 2-0 as the ball trickled in.<\/p>\n<p>Markus Babbel then hammered in the third of the night.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was till time for Fowler, captain on the night, to make it four just before half-time as he netted with a close-range header.<\/p>\n<p>Sami Hyypi\u00e4 then bashed in number five.<\/p>\n<p>Danny Murphy tapped in an easy goal to add to the hammering.<\/p>\n<p>Ziege then turned recipient as he put through Fowler who made it seven.<\/p>\n<p>And the marksman made it 8-0 from the penalty spot to complete a sublime hat-trick, and a record away victory for the Reds.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"palace\">Liverpool 9 vs 0 Crystal Palace \u2013 Tuesday 12<sup>th<\/sup> September 1989<\/h2>\n<p>This was a huge win for Kenny Dalglish\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Nicol\u2019s smart finish got the night underway.<\/p>\n<p>And fellow Steve, McMahon, chipped in a fine goal to double their lead.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Rush then slammed in to make it three.<\/p>\n<p>In the second-half, Gary Gillespie then added another as he headed in at close range.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Beardsley then got number five as he smashed home.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WdFLIewHMCs\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>John Aldridge in his final Reds match, cooly slotted in from the spot as the London side soon found themselves six down.<\/p>\n<p>John Barnes then scored an amazing free-kick to add further gloss to the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Swedish defender Glenn Hys\u00e9n headed in to make it eight.<\/p>\n<p>And the final goal of the night, as again with some of the other plot twists in this article, Nicol got the first and last as he completed the scoring.<\/p>\n<p>The win took them to the top of the table, as they would eventually wrap up another league title.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"fulham\">Liverpool 10-0 Fulham \u2013 Tuesday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> September 1986<\/h2>\n<p>In this League Cup second-round encounter, the home side destroyed the visitors in some style.<\/p>\n<p>The Anfield crowd witnessed a huge win as Rush stroked home.<\/p>\n<p>It was then 2-0 inside the first ten minutes, just two minutes later as striker John Wark slotted in.<\/p>\n<p>Then Ronnie Whelan got in on the act, scoring a sublime volley.<\/p>\n<p>There was still time just before half-time for McMahon to strike for 4-0 Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>And the second-half was a complete blitz as Wark headed in number five and his second of the match.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DXUPpSFRBq0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It was then McMahon who turned and slammed in his second goal of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Just five minutes later, McMahon got his hat-trick as he stroked in a cool finish.<\/p>\n<p>Another from Rush piled more misery on poor Fulham keeper John Vaughan.<\/p>\n<p>A tap-in at the back post from McMahon saw him notch his fourth goal of the game.<\/p>\n<p>All of Liverpool\u2019s attacking players were on fire that night, and there was even time for Nicol to cap off a memorable night as he squeezed the ball into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n<p>It broke the club\u2019s 90-year record stretching back to 1896, as their biggest win in domestic cup competition, a statistic still intact today.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"palloseura\">Liverpool 10-1 Oulun Palloseura \u2013 Wednesday 1<sup>st<\/sup> October 1980<\/h2>\n<p>This was a European Cup first round second leg encounter, after the Anfield side could only draw one all in the first leg in Finland.<\/p>\n<p>Dalglish put through Graeme Souness for an easy tap in after just six minutes.<\/p>\n<p>It was his first goal for the club in European competition.<\/p>\n<p>Souness soon got his second, as a simple shot bounced off the Oulun keeper\u2019s foot and went in.<\/p>\n<p>Terry McDermott then got the third.<\/p>\n<p>Dalglish nearly got the fourth just before half-time as the ball was going in, but McDermott cheekily swept in to take the goal for himself.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Armstrong then pulled a tried to take.<\/p>\n<p>But he eventually, at the crowd\u2019s insistence, gave the ball to his 80s lookalike brother Souness, with the same curly mullet hair and moustache, and he slammed it down the middle to net his hat-trick after 53 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Merely a minute later, Sammy Lee smashed in the sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Ray Kennedy then tapped in Phil Neal\u2019s cross.<\/p>\n<p>David Fairclough then nodded into the bottom corner two minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Fairclough quickly got his second, another header this time at the back post.<\/p>\n<p>And the final goal saw McDermott get the hat-trick he
