Match Preview Liverpool

Peter sits down with Chris Hurst to discuss the New Years day fixture at Turf Moor

Two games in 48 hours for the Reds how will Jurgen deal with this?

King of rotation isn’t he ( laughs ) no I think around the Christmas period you see the quality of all teams squads, but this time I think we have good options in key areas now so I think we will be fine.

Do you see two totally different teams for the games in question?

Yes similar to the derby I can imagine a whole host of changes in the two games, preferably saving the more stronger of the two for this one, didn’t think I’d be saying that at the start of the season.

What have you made of Burnley this season?

Their doing very well to be fair to them, I don’t think anyone could have predicted them doing as good at the start of the season, it’s not always a pretty game, but with all due respect for a team like Burnley I don’t think they’ll care as long as they put points on the board.

Who do we need to be wary of in the opposition line up?

Their a good team, to be honest, this season at least, I think their midfield has got them where they are, so I wouldn’t put it down to an individual. Our midfield as good as it is in an attacking sense still needs to work on other areas I think this game will be a big test for them.

What are your thoughts on the signing of Van Dijk?

I think I’m one of very few that isn’t getting carried away, to be honest, don’t get me wrong I’m happy we’ve got him but £75m is a huge amount of money and given the fact everyman and his dog knows we needed a CB he’s gonna be under enormous pressure and everyone will be paying him extra attention as soon as he makes his first appearance I just hope the other players around him up their game as well now.

Do you think JK will make more signings in January?

I hope so, another CB would be nice but I proper DM would make it a good very good Christmas for me, but time will tell, I’ve learned from the summer not to get carried away with who I’d like or not.

Finally, Chris what is your score prediction and why?

It’s gonna be a tough game I think, I think Dyche will have them set up to nullify the game, I think a low scoring game this time out and possibly a draw, so I’ll say 2-2.

Big thanks to Chris for his Q&A interview for FOL
