BRENDAN RODGERS HOPES FOR NEW BLOOD IN THE SUMMER TRANSFER-WINDOW

Friends Of Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, was in Northern Ireland yesterday at the launch of the Annual International Youth Milk Cup.

He did a press-conference at the opening of the event and gave his thoughts on the Summer transfer-window and the need for new faces at Liverpool for next Season:

“The club respect where we need to strengthen and where we need to improve,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.

“We have seen from the last window in January, we got our business done early and brought in two outstanding players in Sturridge and Coutinho.

“Hopefully we will have a similar impact in the summer. If we can do that, that will make me really happy with the group going forward.

“I just think we need a bit more depth and a bit more quality.

“The players this year have done very well. I have asked everything of them and, in the main, they have done very well.

“The majority of the time, there have not been too many performances where I have been really disappointed.”

Certainly, after the 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle away on Saturday with January signings Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge starring for the team, they are aiming to finish in the coveted top four, next Season.

Next up for Liverpool is the Merseyside derby at Anfield, Sunday lunch-time.

It should be a cracking encounter with Everton in 6th on 59 points, while Liverpool are 7th on 54 points.

A Liverpool win over the toffees would close the gap to just two points and while Europe is slightly beyond the Reds this Season, to finish above David Moyes’s team in the League would be great, as always.
