The Reds Are Coming Up The Hill Boys

One of the joys of being a Liverpool fan is that there are a myriad of things for us to be able to sing about. It is, perhaps, one of the things that sticks in the craw the most when opposition fans turn up to Anfield and choose to sing songs about poverty or about sporting disasters rather than getting behind their own team.

Surely other teams have things that can be sung about that mean people don’t have to stoop to such lows? That’s what we all think, but it’s evidently not true. Scouse exceptionalism and LFC’s success means the bitterness will always shine through, which this song actually touches upon in its own way.

A Song of Defiance

In The Reds Are Coming Up the Hill, Liverpool supporters sing about the thing that many other sets of fans hate the most: our inevitability. The song also touches on the fact that we have been mocked and laughed at in the past, with many choosing to say that the days of our success have been over.

The good news for us is that reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. The Reds are the most successful club in the history of English football, delivering trophy after trophy even whilst other teams have had more money and, arguably, better players.

Here are the lyrics for this one:

The reds are coming up the hill boys,

The reds are coming up the hill boys.

They all laugh at us,

They all mock at us

They all say our days are numbered.

Born to be a Scouser

Victorious are we,

If you wanna win a cup

Then you’d better hurry up

Cos we are Liverpool FC.

we love you liverpool

We Love You Liverpool, We Do

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, Liverpool supporters like to get behind their own team first and foremost. It means that when opposition fans turn up and end up singing songs about tragedies and poverty and other such nonsense, they can be ignored as the small-minded cretins that they are. They might dismiss such songs […]

We Hate Nottingham Forest, We Hate Everton Too, We Hate Man United But Liverpool We Love You

One of the things about Liverpool supporters that I’m most proud of is that, generally speaking, we’re always far more interested in singing songs about our own club and players than we are in singing about the opposition. There are obviously exceptions to this, of course, such as when a member of the opposition has […]

Those Were the Days, My Friend – Liverpool Song About 1980’s Domination

For Liverpool fans, it is almost impossible not to look to the past, even as we enjoy the present. Although the club was dominant under Jürgen Klopp, regularly winning trophies and pushing a Manchester City side with 130 charges of financial misconduct hanging over it all the way in Premier League title races, even that […]
