Liverpool FC Record Premier League Wins by Team

Liverpool are the most successful club in the country, but the Reds’ dominance of the trophy cabinet hasn’t always shown in the domestic league. The Merseysiders have been part of the Premier League since the competition formed in 1992, yet it took until 2020 for the Reds to lift the title for the first time.

The league win at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign was a glorious release of excitement for all concerned, but it also illustrated how often the club has fallen short in the past. They have enjoyed some good wins from time to time, though, which we look at in more detail here.

Here is a look at Liverpool’s record wins against each team that they have faced at least once in the Premier League era. We are specifically looking at league games here, so a 10-0 win in the FA Cup won’t count. We are also looking only at the Premier League era, meaning that previous huge wins when the English top-flight was known as the First Division obviously won’t show up.

For the purposes of ease, if the Reds have beaten a team by the same number of goals, such as 4-0 and 5-1, we will go with the score in which Liverpool scored the most goals. We will also always put the Liverpool score first, so regardless of whether they won 4-0 at home and 4-0 away, it will say ‘4-0’ in the Record Score column.

The data has largely been taken from LFCHistory.net, with some taken from 11v11.com.

Of the 50 teams that Liverpool have faced during the Premier League era, the only club that they haven’t managed to beat either home or away is Blackpool. That is why N/A, an abbreviation of Not Applicable, is present there.

Some Noteworthy Games

As you can see, Liverpool have enjoyed some big wins throughout the history of the Premier League and there is a strong likelihood that we will have to update this page in the future. Even so, there are some results that stand out as being particularly worthy of mention, so we’ll take a closer look at them here.

Arsenal – 5-1 (08/02/2014 & 29/12/2018)

Arsenal are one of the selection of teams that have been in the Premier League since its launch, also winning it numerous times across its existence. Whilst Liverpool have enjoyed a reasonably friendly rivalry with them, it is still a delight to beat a top side comfortably, which we’ve managed on two occasions. The first of the two wins came at Anfield on the eighth of February 2014, when they were one of the teams vying for the title. Liverpool scored the first after less than a minute through Martin Skrtel, who also scored the second around nine minutes later to send the Kop wild.

Raheem Sterling added the third in the 16th minute, with Daniel Sturridge completing the first-half rout in the 20th minute. Sterling then got his own brace and made it five in the 52nd minute, whilst Mikel Arteta got a consolation goal in the 69th minute. Fast forward to the 29th of December 2018 and the Reds won by the same scoreline, needing to come from behind after Ainsley Maitland-Niles gave them the lead after 11 minutes. A Roberto Firmino hat-trick came in the 14th, 16th and then 65th minute, with a 32nd minute goal from Sadio Mané and a stoppage time goal from Mohamed Salah completing the score.

Everton – 4-0 (28/01/2014 & 20/04/2016)

When it comes to rivals, you don’t get much bigger than the one who used to play in your ground and with whom you share a city. For Liverpool to beat Everton is always good, but to beat them so convincingly two years apart is delightful. The first win came during the Brendan Rodgers era, when Steven Gerrard scored the first after 21 minutes before a Daniel Sturridge brace but the game to bed. The Blues came out looking to preserve some dignity in the second-hand, only for Luis Suárez to score Liverpool’s fourth and delight the Kop, as well as the rest of Anfield.

The second time it happened was also at Anfield, this time two years later. It was a match that saw Everton equalise their longest run without a league win against the Reds, hitting 11 games. Jürgen Klopp hadn’t been in charge long but showed that he understood the brief, with Divock Origi terrorising the Blues once again when he opened the scoring after 43 minutes. Mamadou Sakho got a rare goal to make it two, then Daniel Sturridge, who also had a good record against them, made it 3-0 on the hour mark. It was Philippe Coutinho who completed the rout in the 76th minute.

Leeds United – 6-0 (23/02/2022)

Whilst younger supporters might not care much about Leeds United, it’s fair to say that older ones definitely do. That is why they make the list, even if the modern team isn’t one we care about as much as the older one. Mo Salah gave the Reds the lead with a 15th-minute penalty, then set up Joël Matip on the half-hour mark. Salah scored another penalty in the 35th minute to all but kill the game off. A Sadio Mané brace in the 80th and 90th minutes made it 4-0, set up by Jordan Henderson for his first, before Virgil van Dijk made it 6-0 in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

Manchester United – 7-0 (05/03/2023)

If you think that Everton aren’t Liverpool’s fiercest rival, then there’s a good chance that you think it’s Manchester United. Many people do, which is why Anfield was in raptures when we defeated the Red Devils 7-0 on the fifth of March 2023. It was Cody Gakpo who opened the scoring just before half-time, with Darwin Núñez doubling our lead just after the break. Gakpo got his second in the 50th minute, which was followed 16 minutes later by a Mo Salah goal. Núñez’s brace came in the 75th minute, with Salah also getting a second in the 83rd minute. Roberto Firmino completed the embarrassment with 88 minutes on the clock.

Nottingham Forest – 5-1 (24/10/1998)

As with Leeds United, a lot of younger fans might not understand the enmity felt towards Nottingham Forest by older supporters. This was a team that caused us all sorts of trouble in the 1970s and 1980s, however, so a 5-1 win will never not be fun. It was Michael Owen who got the opening after 10 minutes, only for Dougie Freedman to respond seven minutes later. Steve McManaman responded in the 23rd minute, then it was all about Owen in the time remaining. He got his second in the 38th minute, then scored a 71st-minute penalty before netting his fourth in the 77th minute.

Bournemouth – 9-0 (27/08/2022)

Liverpool fans don’t have any strong feelings about Bournemouth, but the Cherries saw us score our highest ever Premier League score in the August of 2022, which is why they deserve a mention. Luis Díaz scored after just three minutes, then Harvey Elliott doubled the lead three minutes after that. Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in the 28th minute, with Roberto Firmino netting in the 31st minute. Virgil van Dijk made it five, then a Chris Mepham own goal added to the indignity. Firmino’s brace came in the 62nd minute, then a quick two from Fabio Carvalho and Díaz completed the 9-0 destruction.
