Who Else Could Liverpool Sign This Summer?

After an impressive start to the summer transfer window, the Reds will be keen to push on and bring more talent in to push on following their impressive Premier League title-winning season last campaign.

It could be argued that the club did their best business, pre-transfer window, tying up stalwarts Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to new deals, though since they have impressively pushed on.

The impressive Jeremie Frimpong has come in for a bargain £30 million to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, while the Reds have broken the British transfer record to bring in Florian Wirtz – the two of them joining from Bayer Leverkusen. The latter has been hailed by many as a ‘generational’ player.

Meanwhile, Milos Kerkez – considered to be the best left-back in the league has joined from Bournemouth in a £40 million deal, so it is clear the club means business.

Is Isak Next Through The Door?

A central striker is being seen as a priority for the Reds, with Darwin Nunez seemingly deemed surplus to requirements and links have resurfaced about a possible move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Should such a move materialise, it is likely that Liverpool will need to break their own transfer record, with the Magpies reportedly holding out for more than £150 million.

The thought of Isak, a newly motivated Salah (if that’s possible!), Wirtz and Diaz in a front four for the club is frightening and sure to put the fear into every side in Europe – perhaps even rivalling PSG’s impressive forward line.

It would also be a page out of the Jose Mourinho playbook of weakening other Premier League clubs and, no doubt, Isak would fit in very nicely at Anfield especially with the football that manager, Arne Slot likes to play.

As such, we’re convinced that should Isak sign, Liverpool will likely be overwhelming favourites to retain the Premier League title next term, despite the business that other clubs do.

Could Others Follow?

It will be interesting to see how done Liverpool are should they manage to bring in a striker. There are rumours about Jarrell Quansah moving to Bayer Leverkusen, while Joe Gomez could be sold if the right offer comes in so another centre-back could be on the radar.

A lot will depend on how much is left in the budget, though, no doubt the club will want to replace any outgoings. The question is, whether they will be brought in to compete for a starting place, or to be a rotation option.

It could be that Slot may also want another body in the centre of midfield, though, unless it is a specialist, holding midfield player, he may have a hard time displacing Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis MacAllister. All in all, things look positive for the club – especially based on business so far and recent rumours.

Liverpool Sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen

Arne Slot is not a manager afraid of player churn. In the season before he arrived at Anfield, the Dutchman oversaw a large number of player departures and arrivals and went on to post more points than in his title-winning campaign a year earlier. In some ways, therefore, we should not be surprised that there […]

Liverpool Confirm Wirtz Deal

This is a big summer for Liverpool Football Club. The Reds won the title last season, which was an incredible achievement that few people saw coming. If they want to keep moving forward, though, then they need to ensure that they give Arne Slot the tools to succeed. That will include making signings that fit […]

Liverpool Agree Kerkez Fee

For many Liverpool supporters, it has been difficult to watch rivals like Manchester City signing player after player, especially given how much money they have spent since the Premier League confirmed it was investigating them for 130 breaches of finance rules. This summer, however, the Reds appear to be doing things differently. Having already confirmed […]
