Peter Phillips and Mike Davies review Liverpool FC’s season so far

The Kop Table Interview

Peter gets the latest thoughts of Mike Davies ahead of the upcoming big games

Can you give us a short recap of the Watford game?

Hi, Peter. What can we say about the Watford game we start off in the front foot in like the United game, good tempo to the match overall a very good performance.

Salah gets all the plaudits for his 4 goals and rightfully so but who else impressed you in this game?

Salah takes all the credit for the Watford game and rightly so can I just say if it had been Messi sending defenders on the backside one way and another then have the clearness to take a little touch before passing it in the goal the whole footballing world would of gone on meltdown this was a outstanding goal. So about that just felt I needed to say it back to the question Robbo again outstanding he’s turning out to be the bargain of the season along with Salah And of course VVD

Can you give us a short review of the season so far?

What do I think of the season so far Peter, well overall I’m happy with the progress we have made and the new players that have come in. I’m glad to see we have finally settled on a GK as swapping them was damaging us at the back in my opinion. I think it shows that if we had got VVD in the summer we would be a lot closer to City in the league .

Rate each players performance this season on a Scale of 1-10 with a short reason for this?

Karius started the season as a 4 or a 5 at best but now I feel he’s playing at a level of 8 he’s pulled so great saves off and his confidence has grown due to been told he’s No1 and VVD coming in TAA doing well for his first full season still learning his trade overall I would rate him at the minute a 7. Onto Lovren, he still has errors in his game but then suddenly comes with a great block or last ditch tackle and has improved  since VVD’s arrival, 5 or a 6. Now onto VVD I’m going to just put it out there and say he’s World Class, he’s settled in almost straight away and just looks so assured in the ball a true leader 9. Robbo has come in at the time people were moaning but how he as proven people wrong and just gets better by game 8. The Ox, he’s starting to show in glimpses why Klopp wanted him but needs to be more consistent 7. Can has been our best midfielder as he works hard but still at times makes the odd mistake 8. Gini hasn’t played up to last year’s standard but works hard 6. Hendo had injuries again but does a lot of the dirty work a team player 7. Adam as been out far too much this season for me to rate. This season Milner, along with Can, has been our best midfielder as he leads by example and would be a credit to any football team 8. Now the front 3 what can I say about them that hasn’t been said so I’m just going to rate them as 9 10 10 with Mane just behind the other two with the 9. Other lads that are coming on are Gomez definitely our future CB with VVD just needs to cut the errors out of his game to become a class defender so a 7 from me.

What is your predicted line up for the Crystal Palace game with the CL game on the horizon?

Going into the Palace game I think we all agree it’s hard to second guess Klopp, but I feel with the 1st leg of the UCL coming up he will go strong and the bring lads off when the game is hopefully won and with this in mind I’m going for a 3-1 win.

Thanks, Peter and everyone at FOL

Mike

Why Steven Gerrard should have prolonged his career and helped Jurgen Klopp achieve Liverpool’s ambitions

I’ve always wanted to write about the idea that Steven Gerrard quit too soon. This article will explore the argument that had the former Liverpool captain carried on just a few seasons longer, he could have ended on a high note and helped Klopp’s side get over the line for some vital silverware. Gerrard quit […]

Harry Wilson – Hull City Harry Wilson scored his fifth goal in Hull colours when he opened the scoring for their 5-0 thrashing of Burton Albion. The Welshman picked up the ball on the right-hand side of the box, before accurately placing it in the far corner of the net. From that point on Hull […]
