Reds Enjoy Mini Break, Alisson Deal Off? U18s Prepare For UEFA Youth Cup

After their emphatic 5-0 victory against FC Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Liverpool embarking on a training camp in Marbella until the weekend. With no FA Cup football for the reds, their next game will be next Saturday against West Ham United.

Sadio Mane’s hat-trick against Porto in the Champions League match has earned him the player of the week award by UEFA.

Wednesday also saw Nathaniel Clyne travel with the squad as he looks to rejoin the first team squad after his lengthy injury layoff. Clyne has been training with the first team in Marbella and will look to regain to his position in a bid to be in England’s World Cup squad.

Transfer News:

Loris Karius looks to be Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper with the German regaining Klopp’s faith after his recent performances. The reds were interested in Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson with Roma and Liverpool starting preliminary talks. However, any proposed deal looks to be off the table as Roma’s valuation of the goalkeeper seems to be too high for Liverpool. Klopp has also been impressed with Karius.

It also seems likely that Simon Mignolet will leave the club in the summer transfer window as he as lost his place to Karius. Mignolet started the season as Klopp’s number one choice but his performances have been questioned as of late.

Youth:

Liverpool U23s prepare to face West Ham on Saturday in the Premier League 2. The U23s are looking to bounce back after two consecutive defeats against Tottenham and Bristol City. They currently sit 1st in the league, a point ahead of Arsenal.

Steven Gerrard’s U18s prepare for a crucial match on Wednesday 21st February as they face rivals Manchester United in the UEFA Youth Cup. The reds will be the home team and a win means they will progress to the Quarter Finals of the competition.
