LFC Preparing for Spurs, Window Shut, U18’s Collapse

Team News:

Adam Lallana has resumed full training for Liverpool after an injury setback caused him to miss the last few games. Lallana could be in contention to feature on Sunday against Tottenham.

Nathaniel Clyne is nearing full training following his back injury. Clyne along with Danny Ings and Virgil Van Dijk were added to Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

Jurgen Klopp also spoke about Van Dijk’s fitness issue since he came to the club.

”When Virgil came here he was not match-fit. I don’t know him long enough to say ‘yes, you can play every three days’ at this moment. We need to use the time between matches. I spoke to him about it, he expected it. We have to use the time.”

Club News:

Wednesday saw the Premier League transfer window shut and there were a few outgoing transfers for the club. Jon Flanagan went to Bolton on loan for the season whilst Lazar Markovic, Lloyd Jones and Daniel Sturridge also departed.

Despite raking in over £140m from the Philippe Coutinho sale, Liverpool only spent £75m this window on Virgil Van Dijk, something that may frustrate fans.

Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday at Anfield in a crucial match for top four. The reverse fixture saw Liverpool embarssed and the reds will look for revenge.

Here’s what Klopp had to say in his press conference:

”The Tottenham game at Wembley was not a good game from us. They had a good start, good middle of the game, and good finish – that’s why they won the game.”

“These are ‘six-point’ games and the only advantage one team can have in a situation like this is to play at home, at Anfield in this case. That’s really good and I’m looking forward to it.“

Youngsters:

Liverpool’s U18’s were defeated against Stoke City on Friday afternoon. An early goal from Glen McAuley in the 24th minute gave the reds the lead before Stoke equalised late on in the second half. Stoke won it at the death through a 91st minute penalty.

Liverpool U23’s are in action on Monday 5th February as they face Tottenham away. The reds sit first in the league with a game in hand over second placed Leicester City.

Liverpool FC Potential January 2026 Transfers

Liverpool have endured a tough time of it in the Premier League and Champions League so far this season, also crashing out of the League Cup. It is, in my opinion, entirely understandable why that might be the case, given the fact that this is a club that has been grieving the loss of a […]
