Burnley v Liverpool preview by @Natalie_Bromley

The Kop Table Interview

Peter talks to Burnley Supporter and Podcaster Natalie Bromley ahead of the big game…

Hello Natalie great to have you here, can you sum up Burnley’s season so far please?

A | Way above expectation! Going into the season, with the losses of both Keane and Gray, and with Heaton getting injured, I really expected us to struggle. But we’ve dug deep, learned some valuable lessons from previous seasons and found a unique way to play and win. And contrary to popular belief, the football is entertaining too!

Who has been the standout performer for the Clarets this season?

A | Hard to answer really, as Burnley isn’t a team that is built on stars. It’s a team built as one unit, with every player fighting for the cause and everyone expecting their part in the game plan perfectly. I guess I can give special mention to Nick Pope and James Tarkowski, both of whom have deputised for key players of last year perfectly. Then in midfield, the partnership of Jack Cork and Steven Defour has been incredible.

What is the injury/suspension situation like at Burnley?

A | Not great! We’re currently missing Tom Heaton, Stephen Ward, Robbie Brady and Chris Wood. And our squad isn’t the greatest in numbers as it is. That said, we have cover and SD is relentless with his belief in the players on the pitch and those waiting in the wings. I expect us to buy in January, now we know we’re staying up again.

What tactics is Sean Dyche likely to deploy in this game?

A | The same one he does every game; defend solidly and tightly, keep you from scoring then score a half-chance with ruthless precision. Unless we concede first… in which case you’ll win easily!

Which player from Liverpool do you fear the most?

A | Salah. He was the only one who caused us grief at Anfield and is one of the players of the season for me. Otherwise, we’ll just take it as it comes; we’ve shown we aren’t afraid of anyone this season and not should we be.

Score prediction and why?

1-0 home win. Got to back your boys don’t you…
