The Loan Report: Sakho shines and a rare start for Kent

The Loan Report

Mamadou Sahko – Crystal Palace

Sahko, who recently won player of the month for Palace, put in his fourth fine defensive display in as many games during the 2-1 win away at Chelsea. Palace did concede their first goal in four but it was a well-taken effort in the first five minutes. Palace quickly took the lead and then defended doggedly until the final whistle. Sahko’s performances have been excellent of late and one of the reasons that Palace have moved away from the relegation zone.

Lazar Markovic – Hull City

The Serbian’s form has suffered of late as Hull have struggled in away games but they turned it around in the 2-1 win against West Ham. After going a goal down, Markovic began the move which brought about Hull’s equaliser. He was used in a different role by the manager and played more centrally, allowing him to have more of an impact.

Andre Wisdom – Red Bull Salzburg

The defender had little to do during the 5-0 away win against Reinhdorf Altach. Wisdom played the whole game after making his second start in a row for the table-topping side. It was their second consecutive clean sheet and he will be hoping to get more starts as RB Salzburg close in on the title.

Pedro Chirivella – Go Ahead Eagles

Although he did not affect the scoreline, Chirivella did help his side to an unlikely 2-1 win away at FC Twente. That result moved the side from the bottom of the Eredivisie table. The midfielder has scored twice and assisted two goals during his 984 minutes with the club.

Danny Ward – Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield were beaten by Burton Albion over the weekend which puts a dent in their promotion challenge. Ward played well and made some fine saves to keep the game goalless but he could not prevent the winner in the dying minutes as the Terriers lost 1-0.

Ryan Kent – Barnsley

Kent started his first game in months and seemed to take advantage of it, showing good skill out wide. He created good chances for the home side in their draw with Sheffield Wednesday and very nearly created a winner. He would have had at least one assist during the game if it were not for poor finishing from his teammates.

Cameron Brannagan – Fleetwood Town

Brannagan played the final 12 minutes of Fleetwood’s 1-0 loss to Swindon. He did not have much time in order to affect the game when he came on.

Taiwo Awoniyi (NEC Nijmegen) and Allan Rodrigues (Hertha Berlin) did not feature for their teams and Jon Flanagan (Burnley) was once again was an unused substitute.
