VILLA STRIKER BENTEKE HANDS IN TRANSFER REQUEST

Friends Of Liverpool

Aston Villa have been stunned with the news that star centre-forward Christian Benkeke has handed in a transfer request.

The 6ft 3″ Belgian International who signed from native team Genk in 2011 and scored 19 goals for Villa in 34 games, wants a move to a bigger club.

Liverpool and as usual Spurs are interested in signing the forward this Summer.

With Luis Suarez intent on joining Real Madrid, Liverpool are preparing for life without him, if he does go to Spain.

That is by no means certain at this stage, but Liverpool want to have a back-up lined up to replace Suarez, if he does leave.

The fee is set at £25 million though this could rise with Tottenham and other clubs likely to enter the bidding.
