LIVERPOOL STROLL TO VICTORY AGAINST NEWCASTLE

Liverpool made light work of todays game against Alan Shearer’s struggling Newcastle United at Anfield this afternoon.
Needing a win to claw back Manchester United’s 6 point lead, the Reds were soon in front thanks to a goal from, in-form, Yossi Benayoun.
Dirk Kuyt then headed home a returning Steven Gerard corner.
Liverpool totally dominated the match and shots were raining in from all over the pitch.
The second half was more of the same with Xabi Alonso hitting the crossbar for the second time in the match.
Rafa’s team had all the play and they should have been further in front until, late on in this one-sided game, Aurelio whipped in a good free-kick and substitute Lucas Leiva headed the ball home for Liverpool’s third of the match.
Bad boy Joey Barton had earlier been sent off for a nasty foul on Xabi Alonso who was stretchered off, I hope he isn’t too badly hurt.
Mascherano also had to limp off having gone over on his ankle.
But, injuries apart, this was another good day at the office for Rafa and Liverpool.
Lets hope Arsenal knock Utd out of Europe on Tuesday and then Man City beat them next Saturday in the league.
I’m still hoping we can win the league!
