@_Chris_Hurst_ Talks about Karius’ Recent Performances, the Game Against Porto, Score Predictions and More!

The Kop Table Interview

Peter talks all things LFC with our regular Q&A Guest Chris Hurst

Hello Chris, firstly, what did you make of the performance down at Southampton and who impressed you the most in that game?

Was superb, I thought. We went down and executed our game plan very well. Without a doubt, the plaudits have to go to Salah and Firmino as they were both brilliant again.

What are your thoughts on the recent performances by Loris Karius? Is he improving or have his clean sheets been due to us having been more solid as a back four?

Both I’d say mate. I said earlier on in the week that I’m not surprised Jürgen made him our number one once he had Van Dijk and Robertson brought up to the levels he required. It baffles me when keepers are constantly rotated as well as the back four but hopefully now we will start to see a real understanding between Karius, VVD and Lovren (who I also think has been playing very well of late).

Great win in the CL against Porto with some great attacking football, but which of the goals did you enjoy the most?

Got to be Salah’s, mate, hasn’t it? The composure shown before he finished it was nothing short of world class, the man is such a joy to watch and long may it continue.

Would you be looking to extend and improve Mo Salah’s contract already with reports that Madrid are possibly looking at him?

The only reason any club extends the deal is to make more money from a sale, so, given they way the two are playing I’d say yes, without a doubt. We all know the second Barcelona or Madrid come in, the player is as good as gone. So, it’s up to us to get good value, or, from a fan’s point of view, make a statement. Give them a new deal. Put them on big money. Show them and the rest of Europe that we mean business. I’m sick of Liverpool being the Southampton to Barcelona and Madrid! If we want to be considered a top club, we have to stop selling our best players. However, as I said before, that’s speaking as a fan. Time will only tell but if we carry on the way we are in the league and in CL, in my opinion, it won’t be long before we’re considered a good option by football’s elite.

Have you allowed yourself to dream of a sixth European cup and have we got a team that’s capable of winning it, in your opinion?

Damn right I have! My hotel is already booked with a free cancellation (laughs). Why not dream? Someone has to win it and I know I can be pessimistic at times… Most of the time… Looking at who’s left, there is absolutely no one I’d be looking at thinking “I hope we can avoid them.” I think on our day we can beat anyone, so providing we stay injury free from now ’till the final, yes I am confident.

Score prediction against West Ham and why please?

Don’t think there’s any reason to make any changes given the break they’ve had. Start with the same team, start with the same intensity and we will smash these, move up to 2nd, then it’s down to Utd to beat Chelsea so pressure is all on them. Score prediction is 6-0 to the reds.
