Afternoon Bulletin

Team News:

Ahead of Monday’s clash with Swansea, Liverpool welcome back Virgil Van Dijk who missed the last game against Manchester City with a slight hamstring injury.

The £75m signing has yet to feature for Liverpool in the Premier League and is in line to make his Premier League debut for the reds.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah and Ragnar Klavan missed Thursday’s double training session at Melwood with illness and Jurgen Klopp hopes to have them back training on Friday. Dejan Lovren also missed training with an injury and it is unknown as to when he will return.

Klopp has also confirmed Loris Karius will start on Monday against Swansea with the German winning the number one position ahead of Simon Mignolet. Karuis started the league game against Manchester City and will continue to start for Liverpool in the near future.

Transfer News:

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that youngster Ben Woodburn will not be loaned out this transfer window. The 18-year-old has been the subject of interest from many clubs, most notably Sunderland.

Daniel Sturridge is attracting interest from a host of clubs including Inter Milan and Sevilla. The striker is looking to leave the club in order to gain more playing time. Sturridge is also fighting to be in contention for England’s World Cup team this summer.

Inter Milan seem to be in pole position for the Englishman with the Italian club looking to take the striker on loan with a potential fee paid at the end of the season.

Sevilla are also interested in the striker but are yet to put in any offers. It’s understood that Sevilla is Sturridge’s first choice.

Marko Grujic has joined Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan with the Serbian looking for more game time. Like Sturridge, Grujic is also looking to cement his place in Serbia’s World Cup team.

Youngsters:

Steven Gerrard’s U18’s is set to face Arsenal on Saturday in the FA Youth Cup. The fixture will be played at Anfield which will be Gerrard’s first game there as the manager.

Gerrard will be without striker Rhian Brewster who is out injured with an ankle injury. Brewster suffered the injury against Manchester City and it’s unknown as to how long he will be out for.
