Merseyside Derby Fan Preview with Chris Hurst

The Kop Table Interview

Peter Phillips sits down and asks Chris Hurst for his thoughts on the Merseyside Derby.

Chris, are you confident that after 2 wins on the spin for Everton that Liverpool can get the result on Sunday?

Derbies are always tough games and I always think form goes out the window, 2 wins will be a boost for them but with all due respect the teams they played were hardly world beaters, but I think none of their fans will see it that way given their current form, I’m sure we will bring them back down to earth on Sunday.

Which Everton players should Liverpool be wary of on Sunday?

I know people say he’s finished but as much as 2 wins will boost the squad, a hat trick will certainly boost Wayne Rooney, not that the local lad will need much motivation at Anfield, another one for me is Gylfi Sigurdsson, I think he is a top player an can cause us problems so the back 5 need to be on top of their game, no one will be expecting Everton to win but derbies are always special games and with a new manager at the club everyone of them will have that bit more going into it.

What tactics do you expect Sam Allardyce to use at Anfield on Sunday?

Tactics and Allardyce are not something that go hand in hand, I think he’s a no nonsense manager, he knows what his squads strengths are an will use what he has to try get a result anyway he can, expect a lot of in your face football from his team Sunday so our lads best be up for the physical test I think Everton will try to impose on us.

What Liverpool players do you think can cause Everton the most problems in the Derby?

Think that pretty much answers itself to be honest mate, hopefully Manè can continue his scoring form against them, also Firmino can keep playing the way he is but It’s all about Salah for me he’s been sensational this season and at home v Everton I can see him adding to his tally again.

What is your score prediction and why?

As I said form goes out the window for me but I can’t see anything else (biased of course) than a Liverpool win, I think an early goal will certainly help as Everton won’t, if they were planning on it, be able to sit. I’ll go 4-1 Salah hat trick an Manè to carry on his derby day goal run.
